Job Description

Who We Are

Aerometrex is a trusted and leading geospatial technology company specialising in delivering high-resolution aerial imagery, 3D modelling, and spatial data solutions. Our products, including MetroMap, LiDAR and 3D visualisation models, provide powerful insights that support a wide range of industries and customer needs.

Our flagship platform, MetroMap, is a high-value subscription product that enables users to visualise, measure and analyse the built environment with precision. Used by thousands of professionals across industries including engineering, property, construction, utilities, government and infrastructure, MetroMap plays a critical role in how businesses plan, design and operate.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on ICT Manager to take ownership of our technology environment across infrastructure, networks, cyber security and cloud, spanning our Adelaide and Sunshine Coast sites.

Our environment is data-intensive: every aerial capture produces vast volumes of imagery and LiDAR data that must be stored, processed and delivered to customers. You will manage large-scale storage, high-throughput networks, and production systems where performance and uptime directly affect our products. This is primarily a hands-on technical role, while also leading a small IT team, partnering with our software team on AWS security and keeping senior leaders informed.

You will also be involved in significant infrastructure and storage projects as the business continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor and improve on-premise infrastructure across multiple sites, including servers, storage, backup and disaster recovery
  • Own our multi-vendor networks, including switching, routing, firewalls, site-to-site VPNs and redundant internet links, and move routing from static to dynamic
  • Test failover and redundancy regularly, and act as the primary escalation point for outages and incidents, including after-hours and on-call support when required
  • Strengthen security through segmentation, least-privilege access, MFA and Microsoft tooling (Defender, Intune, Purview), and review logs and traffic across on-premises and AWS
  • Manage our AWS environment with a strong focus on cost optimisation, and work with our software team on VPC networking, IAM and hybrid connectivity
  • Lead our cyber security roadmap and policies in line with the Essential Eight, including business continuity and control of third-party and vendor access
  • Deliver projects, upgrades and patching in maintenance windows, and keep documentation current
  • Lead and support a small IT team, and work with teams across the business to deliver practical technology solutions
  • Manage vendors, contracts and licensing, and advise senior leaders on technology priorities, risks and investment

About You

You are a hands-on, vendor-agnostic ICT professional with deep fundamentals across infrastructure, networking, and security. You test before you deploy, document your work, and are confident in guiding a small team and explaining technical matters clearly to non-technical colleagues.

You may bring experience across some or all of the following areas:

  • Significant experience across infrastructure, network or security roles, including designing and delivering improvements
  • On-premise infrastructure: servers, large-scale storage, backup, virtualisation (VMware or Hyper-V), Windows Server and Linux
  • Multi-vendor networking: VLANs, static and dynamic routing (BGP, OSPF), spanning tree, firewalls, IPsec VPNs and SD-WAN or multi-WAN failover
  • Hands-on security: segmentation, MFA, endpoint protection, log analysis and incident response
  • The Microsoft stack: Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, Defender, Intune and Purview
  • AWS, including VPC, security groups, IAM, hybrid connectivity and cost optimisation (Azure is a nice-to-have)
  • Leading or mentoring IT team members, and managing vendors, contracts and budgets
  • Scripting or automation (e.g. PowerShell)

Nice to have:

  • Essential Eight, ISO 27001 or SOC 2 experience
  • Certifications such as CCNP, AWS Advanced Networking or Security, SC-200, AZ-500, CISSP or CISM
  • Dell or FS switching, Sophos firewalls, 3CX or VoIP
  • Power or UPS management
  • Geospatial, aerial imagery or LiDAR experience

We don't expect you to bring every skill listed. What matters most is your technical depth and your ability to deliver practical outcomes. You'll need to travel to our Sunshine Coast site from time to time.

Why Work With Us

At Aerometrex every voice is heard, ideas are valued, and collaboration drives our success. Benefits include:

  • A talented, friendly team
  • Genuine influence over the future of our network and security
  • Employee Assistance Program (free counselling)
  • Salary packaging and novated leasing through Maxxia
  • Internal staff events and celebrations
  • Working from home options (for eligible roles)

If you're a hands-on ICT Manager who enjoys solving problems, strengthening systems and helping others succeed, we'd love to hear from you.

We thank all applicants for their interest in this role; however, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

No recruitment agencies please.
