Mid-Continent Group is accepting resumes for IT Internship candidates starting employment in May through the summer of 2027 with a hybrid work schedule in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Internship includes a combination of activities aimed at giving the intern a full understanding of the IT department and how it interacts with other functions within the organization. The program is a potential pathway to a career in insurance and/or technology. Internships typically consist of a 10-week period over the summer.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a driven and collaborative IT Intern to join our Information Technology team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a variety of technical and user support functions, including data management and reporting, application development, quality assurance, infrastructure, and desktop support. Interns will work closely with experienced IT professionals and cross-functional teams to support business operations and contribute to meaningful projects that enhance our technology landscape. Responsibilities will include:

  • Participate in and gain knowledge of the daily operations and functions of the IT department.
  • Participate in IT Agile projects to include API and application development, upgrades, defect resolution, quality assurance testing, and documentation.
  • Support the IT team in troubleshooting and resolving system, application, and technology-related issues.
  • Participate in team meetings, daily standups, and collaborative planning sessions to stay aligned with project goals and timelines.
  • Provide technical support to end-users for hardware and software issues.
  • Assist with database development, SQL query design, data integration, and application support initiatives.
  • Assist with the evaluation, testing, and adoption of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and productivity solutions.
  • Participate in AI-driven initiatives by helping identify business use cases, testing AI tools and features, gathering feedback, and documenting results and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with business and IT teams to explore opportunities for process automation, workflow optimization, and enhanced user experiences through AI-enabled technologies.
  • Assist in creating training materials, demonstrations, and communications to support user adoption of new technology and AI capabilities.

Networking:

As an IT Intern, you’ll engage with professionals across the IT department, business units, and leadership teams, gaining exposure to a wide range of organizational functions. In addition to hands-on learning through project work and daily operations, interns participate in structured development activities such as knowledge exchange sessions designed to deepen their understanding of business processes and technology strategy.

Qualifications

  • 3.5 preferred GPA, with a 3.0 minimum GPA for consideration.
  • Proven leadership skills through work experience (prior internship/co-ops a plus), campus involvement, and/or extracurricular activities.
  • Superior communication, analytical, planning, and organizing skills.
  • Self-motivated, as the nature of the internship may have virtual aspects.
  • Current student in a bachelor’s degree program in a wide range of majors, with Insurance & Risk Management students encouraged to apply.
  • May 2028-2029 graduate preferred but not required.
