Location- Gurgaon/ Bangalore, India

Job Level- S2 Core

Employement Type- Fulltime Employee

Why we need this role


We are seeking a Linux Specialist to act as a technical subject matter expert within the Linux Engineering team. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, support, and optimisation of a large-scale Linux estate supporting critical business applications.

You will work across approximately 4000 Linux systems, driving automation, standardisation, security, and reliability, while contributing to platform strategy and continuous improvement. The role requires deep technical expertise, strong troubleshooting capability, and effective cross-team collaboration

What you will do

Key Responsibilities for this role are:-

1. Platform Engineering & Ownership

  • Act as the technical authority for Linux platforms (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
  • Design and deliver secure, scalable, and highly available infrastructure solutions
  • Contribute to and execute the Linux platform roadmap

2. Automation & Efficiency

  • Drive automation-first operations using Ansible and scripting
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration standards
  • Deliver scalable efficiency improvements across the estate

3. Operations & Reliability

  • Lead complex incident resolution and root cause analysis
  • Manage patching, configuration, and lifecycle activities
  • Improve performance, observability, and system resilience

4. Security & Compliance

  • Apply CIS hardening and ISO27001-aligned controls
  • Embed secure-by-design principles into engineering
  • Support audits and maintain compliance artefacts

5. Core Services (DNS & Identity)

  • Support and enhance DNS and LDAP services (Red Hat / Oracle)
  • Contribute to enterprise identity integration and authentication

6. Collaboration & Documentation

  • Produce high-quality technical documentation and runbooks
  • Work closely with architecture, security, and application teams
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring

7. Operational Support

  • Participate in an on-call rota for priority incident support

What we're looking for

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in enterprise Linux administration
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu
    • Ansible automation at scale
    • DNS and LDAP (Red Hat / Oracle)
  • Experience with:
    • High availability and disaster recovery solutions
    • Security frameworks (ISO 27001, CIS benchmarks)
    • Scripting (Bash, Python) and IaC principles
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale environments (1000+ servers)
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills
