Job Description

Do you love technology and using it to support a critical customer mission? If so, this job is for you!

The ESA V program is looking for a project manager to lead a federal customer’s IT infrastructure operations work. The project manager will guide a team of technical staff responsible for managing approximately 700 servers running Windows Server operating systems or Red Hat Linux operating systems supporting a complicated customer environment. The customer’s environment is used for day-to-day internal business, interfacing with external stakeholders, performing software development, and many other critical business functions. A strong focus on system availability is critical, as is a strong sense of urgency in reacting to any system outages or degradations. The team includes server engineers, storage engineers, backup engineers, virtualization engineers, database engineers, security engineers, and systems administrators. The team is responsible for 24x7 support of the customer’s environment, and as such the project manager may be required to work odd hours to support mission critical activities or after-hours maintenance activities. The project manager is not expected to be an expert in specific technologies; however, he or she needs to be familiar with a variety of technology stacks to facilitate clear communication both to the team and to the customer. The project manager must exhibit a can-do, proactive attitude, and find ways to remove blockers by providing options to our customers.

This position is a 100% virtual position, although there may be a rare need for travel to customer sites in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. This role requires working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will be personable and articulate, and will be a self-starter who can work with limited supervision. Excellent communication skills are required to effectively interface with customers and team members. Strong technical backgrounds in a wide breadth of areas will help make this person successful; some key technologies include Microsoft Windows, RedHat Linux, OpenShift, Kubernetes, .Net, Pega, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Amazon Web Services, and Azure.

If this sounds like the kind of environment where you can thrive, keep reading!

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and availability
  • Organize the team and assign tasks
  • Report on team status to leadership and to the customer

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 8+ years’ experience. A Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience. Additional years of experience and/or relevant certifications will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Technical breadth in a variety of information technology skill areas
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience interfacing with federal government customers
  • Experience in an operational IT environment
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOJ Public Trust clearance
  • Candidate selected will be subject to a Government Public Trust security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to the customer’s information.

Desired Qualifications:
