IT Infrastructure Operations Manager

The IT Infrastructure Operations Manager is responsible for the reliability, availability, and operational excellence of HP’s on-prem enterprise infrastructure. This role oversees daily operations across compute, storage, virtualization, data center facilities, and backup/DR platforms—delivered through a combination of internal engineering teams and managed service providers (MSPs). The manager ensures stable, secure, and cost-effective operation of highly available production environments across HP’s dual–data center architecture.
The position partners closely with Engineering, Architecture, Cybersecurity, Global Service Management, and multiple MSPs to execute HP’s infrastructure strategy, deliver continuous improvement, and maintain compliance with corporate, SOX, and security standards.
Responsibilities
Lead daily operations for HP’s on-prem infrastructure, including Windows/Linux compute, VMWare/KVM/Hyper-V virtualization, HPE XP and mid-range storage, SAN infrastructure, and data center facilities.
Govern the operational performance of MSPs delivering infrastructure support services, ensuring compliance with SLAs, KPIs, contractual obligations, and HP policies.
Conduct regular service reviews, performance evaluations, capacity discussions, and operational drills with MSP partners.
Maintain uptime, reliability, and operational discipline across mission-critical workloads with defined SLAs.
Oversee incident, problem, and change processes aligned with HP’s ITSM framework, ensuring rapid restoration and controlled change execution.
Govern HA capabilities within each data center using snapshots, replication, clustering strategies, and automated recovery workflows.
Oversee MSP execution of SAN replication, DR procedures, failover readiness testing, and recovery runbooks between HP’s peer data centers.
Partner with Architecture and Engineering to modernize DR strategy, enhance resiliency, and maintain lifecycle currency.
Manage and develop a blended operational team consisting of HP employees and MSP resources.
Provide direction, mentorship, and prioritization guidance across internal and external teams.
Manage operational escalations, on-call rotations, and staffing alignment to business needs.
Drive automation adoption across MSP and internal teams for patching, provisioning, event remediation, and configuration consistency.
Strengthen observability and monitoring capabilities, including event correlation and intelligent alerting.
Ensure MSP participation in continuous improvement programs, problem-management activities, and operational optimization initiatives.
Ensure MSP adherence to HP security baselines, patch compliance, vulnerability remediation timelines, and audit requirements.
Validate MSP execution of hardening, access controls, and operational security practices.
Maintain compliance with corporate governance, SOX, and infrastructure standards.
Participate in budgeting, forecasting, lifecycle planning, and cost optimization for infrastructure assets and services.
Manage MSP financial alignment, including consumption tracking, invoice validation, and contract performance.
Partner with Procurement and Vendor Management on renewals, contract modifications, and supplier performance health checks.
Evaluate emerging technologies and improvements to sourcing models to maximize operational and financial value.
