This role oversees daily operations across compute, storage, virtualization, data center facilities, and backup/DR platforms—delivered through a combination of internal engineering teams and managed service providers (MSPs). The manager ensures stable, secure, and cost-effective operation of highly available production environments across HP’s dual–data center architecture.

  • Conduct regular service reviews, performance evaluations, capacity discussions, and operational drills with MSP partners.

  • Maintain uptime, reliability, and operational discipline across mission-critical workloads with defined SLAs.

  • Oversee incident, problem, and change processes aligned with HP’s ITSM framework, ensuring rapid restoration and controlled change execution.

High Availability, DR & Resiliency

  • Oversee MSP execution of SAN replication, DR procedures, failover readiness testing, and recovery runbooks between HP’s peer data centers.

  • Partner with Architecture and Engineering to modernize DR strategy, enhance resiliency, and maintain lifecycle currency.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage operational escalations, on-call rotations, and staffing alignment to business needs.

Automation, Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive automation adoption across MSP and internal teams for patching, provisioning, event remediation, and configuration consistency.

  • Strengthen observability and monitoring capabilities, including event correlation and intelligent alerting.

  • Ensure MSP participation in continuous improvement programs, problem-management activities, and operational optimization initiatives.

Security, Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure MSP adherence to HP security baselines, patch compliance, vulnerability remediation timelines, and audit requirements.

  • Validate MSP execution of hardening, access controls, and operational security practices.

  • Maintain compliance with corporate governance, SOX, and infrastructure standards.

Financial & Vendor Stewardship

  • Participate in budgeting, forecasting, lifecycle planning, and cost optimization for infrastructure assets and services.

  • Manage MSP financial alignment, including consumption tracking, invoice validation, and contract performance.

  • Partner with Procurement and Vendor Management on renewals, contract modifications, and supplier performance health checks.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and improvements to sourcing models to maximize operational and financial value.
