Job Description

About Jerritt Canyon

The Jerritt Canyon deposit was discovered in 1972, and the first gold production from the property occurred in 1981. The Jerritt Canyon property contains 30,821 hectares of mining claims located in the mining-friendly state of Nevada. First Majestic acquired the Jerritt Canyon Gold Mine from Sprott Mining Inc. on April 30, 2021. In May 2023, operations were suspended to prioritize exploration and technical studies. Jerritt Canyon is now entering a new phase of evaluation and planning, requiring substantial technical support to advance the work necessary for a potential future restart of operations.

The Opportunity

The IT Infrastructure & Network Systems Analyst is responsible for maintaining, supporting, securing, and optimizing the IT infrastructure and network systems that enable safe, reliable, and efficient mining operations.

The role provides technical support and administration for servers, networks, wireless communications, telecommunications, end-user computing, virtualization, storage, backup systems, and cybersecurity controls. The analyst works closely with mine operations, processing plant personnel, engineering, maintenance, automation, and external technology providers to ensure the availability and integrity of business-critical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze the company's business, operational, safety, production, and remote-site requirements to determine appropriate computer systems, infrastructure, connectivity, and technology solutions.
  • Evaluate existing server, network, cloud, storage, backup, identity, and operational technology environments to identify performance, capacity, reliability, security, and integration requirements.
  • Gather requirements from Operations, corporate IT, cybersecurity, and system owners, and translate those requirements into functional and technical specifications.
  • Assess alternative infrastructure and systems solutions, including on-premises, cloud, hybrid, wireless, fiber, private-circuit, LTE, microwave, and satellite connectivity options.
  • Develop technical recommendations concerning system architecture, redundancy, segmentation, capacity, resilience, lifecycle planning, and integration of business and operational systems.
  • Analyze system performance, availability, utilization, connectivity, and recurring incident data, and recommend corrective or preventive changes.
  • Design and support the implementation of physical and virtual server environments, including VMware, Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, file services, storage, backup, replication, and disaster-recovery systems.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate enterprise LAN, WAN, wireless, fiber-optic, routing, switching, firewall, VPN, and remote-connectivity solutions based on documented operational requirements.
  • Analyze and support the integration of on-premises infrastructure with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, remote sites, vendor-managed environments, and operational technology systems.
  • Develop implementation plans, test plans, migration plans, rollback procedures, and validation criteria for infrastructure modernization, cloud migration, network expansion, and systems-integration projects.
  • Test proposed configurations and solutions, evaluate results against technical and operational requirements, and recommend modifications before production deployment.
  • Coordinate implementation activities with vendors, consultants, contractors, corporate IT, cybersecurity personnel, and system owners.
  • Monitor and analyze system health, capacity, performance, utilization, availability, and connectivity to identify risks and recommend improvements.
  • Analyze backup, replication, and disaster-recovery capabilities and recommend changes to improve recovery readiness and business continuity.
  • Assess vulnerabilities, access controls, identity management, privileged access, endpoint protection, firewall configuration, and secure remote access in coordination with cybersecurity personnel.
  • Evaluate the separation and controlled connectivity between information technology and operational technology environments and recommend changes to reduce safety, production, and business-continuity risks.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis of recurring or high-impact infrastructure and connectivity problems and develop recommendations for permanent corrective action.
  • Maintain system architecture diagrams, requirements documentation, configuration standards, inventories, integration records, change documentation, test results, recovery procedures, and implementation plans.
  • Participate in system upgrades, patching, hardware refreshes, lifecycle replacements, capacity improvements, and configuration standardization as part of approved systems-analysis and implementation plans.
  • Provide advanced technical support for complex infrastructure and systems-integration issues, including analysis of server, network, wireless, cloud, connectivity, performance, and interoperability problems.
  • Validate completed implementations, document system performance, and recommend additional modifications when systems do not meet established requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance to support personnel and participate in scheduled maintenance or critical incident response when necessary to evaluate and restore affected computer systems.

The above duties and responsibilities represent the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.

Education and Experience

  • Diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, Systems Administration, Telecommunications, or a closely related discipline.
  • Equivalent relevant technical qualifications and demonstrated practical experience may be considered.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of network architecture, routing and switching, server administration, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure support.
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant experience in IT infrastructure, network administration, systems administration, or enterprise technical support.
  • Demonstrated experience administering Windows-based infrastructure, network devices, user access, and enterprise IT systems.
  • Practical experience troubleshooting network connectivity, server performance, endpoint issues, and infrastructure outages.
  • Experience with backup and recovery, patch management, system monitoring, and technical documentation.
  • Experience working with incident management, change management, and service request processes.
