Minimum qualifications:
- Experience with performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
- Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting one of the following: operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols.
- Ability to work non-standard hours, including working weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required.
Preferred qualifications:
- 2 years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting one of the following: operating systems and computer/server hardware or networking protocols.
- Experience working within a data center or network operation center environment.
- Ability to communicate in German fluently to engage in day-to-date operations, and with colleagues.

Google isn't just a software company. The Hardware Operations team is responsible for monitoring the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure behind Google's powerful search technology. As an Operations Technician, you'll install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware (like servers and its components) and server software (like Google's Linux cluster). As a Technician on our team, your job is to keep the hardware and networks physically connected and running smoothly in our data centers. You will install, configure, and troubleshoot physical servers, network switches, and cabling. You will be the one diagnosing the hardware issue and making the repair, and help lead projects during major facility upgrades and new equipment rollouts. In this role, a normal day involves using tools, manually moving server racks, and navigating an industrial environment. You don't need to know our specific software to succeed here.The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems in the world. - Contribute to projects for the deployment, maintenance, and support of current and new data center servers and network infrastructure.
- Diagnose and repair broken equipment, including servers, networking, and storage devices.
- Install and maintain switches, routers, and other networking gear.
- Participate in primary or secondary on-call shifts.
- Commit to working weekend shift schemes and 24/7 shifts when needed.
