The nation's leading local health department seeks an IT Infrastructure and Virtualization Specialist to join its award-winning, innovative technology team in revolutionizing public health IT. The successful candidate will play a critical role in coordinating remediation activities, managing our VMware and Citrix infrastructure, and supporting our IT Security and Operations teams. This role involves working closely with junior team members, desktop technicians, server administrators, and development staff to ensure the seamless operation of our IT environment.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
Remediation Coordination: Plan and coordinate remediation activities with IT Security, junior team members, desktop technicians, server administrators, and development staff.
VMware Infrastructure Management: Support and maintain existing vSphere 7, NSX-T 3.2 and above infrastructure, including vSphere Replication, Site Recovery Manager, Aria Operations, Aria Operations for Logs, Aria Operations for Networks, vSAN, vCenter HA, vSphere HA, DRS and licensing. Manage NSX-T DFW enforcing security policies across virtualized workloads and east-west traffic flows. Administration and management of Avi Load Balancer. Provision new virtual machines (VMs) as needed to support production, disaster recovery, and development environments, including Staging, FIT, QA, and development. Automate processes using scripts whenever possible. Monitor Virtual IT environments to ensure optimal operation and efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Business Continuity team to leverage the VMware environment for disaster recovery purposes.
- Administer Aria Operations for Logs infrastructure alerting and events platform, as well as the Aria Operations to manage performance, capacity, and configuration of the infrastructure, taking action on recommended adjustments and resizing efforts.
Citrix Administration and Support:
- Analyze, support, and administer existing Windows-based systems and provide troubleshooting strategies.
- Analyze, support, administer and troubleshoot Microsoft Remote Desktop Services, Citrix XenApp / Virtual Apps, and Citrix Netscaler.
- Analyze, support, administer and troubleshoot user profiles running on SMB, Netapp shares, user profile disks, and roaming profiles.
- Support security hardening of Microsoft Operating Systems and Remote Desktop Services, Citrix XenApp / Virtual Apps, and Citrix NetScaler for use in multi-user environment.
- Recommend RDS/Citrix setting changes to group policy objects within Active Directory.
Windows Server Management:
- Collaborate with different teams to address issues related to both virtual and non-virtual Windows Server environments (2008 R2 and above).
Network Operations Collaboration:
- Work with Network Operations to plan and implement infrastructure that supports a Software Defined Network environment and to resolve network-related issues as needed.
Documentation:
- Create and update documentation related to the environment and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Security Compliance:
- Work with NYC Cyber Command, NYC Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI), and DOHMH's IT Information Security Office to ensure that all virtual environments are properly patched and maintained to mitigate potential vulnerabilities.
Linux Server Management: Manage and support Agency Linux servers and appliances.
On-Call Support: Provide weekend on-call support as required.
Other Support: Diagnose and resolve end-user issues regarding server, file sharing/permissions, printers, hardware, email, Internet, VPN, and network access, and provide support for computer and network problems beyond the knowledge of technical support staff/technicians.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- 4+ years of VMware experience; VMware Certification required (VCP-DCV 2020 minimum).
- 4+ years with Microsoft Remote Desktop Services
- 4+ years with Citrix XenApp / Virtual Apps and NetScaler
- 4+ years with Linux Experience
- Experience with creating and troubleshooting Group Policies
- Experience with Microsoft Azure environment.
- Experience with all versions of Microsoft Windows Desktop, Server OS and AVD
- Experience with Microsoft Directory Services (LDAP, AD) enterprise-level Active Directory Multi-Domain environments.
- Experience with PowerCLI
