IT Hardware Deployment Technician

Location: Arlington, VA (Onsite)

Duration: 6-Week Contract

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday

Industry: Enterprise Technology Services

About the Opportunity

We are seeking two detail-oriented IT Hardware Deployment Technicians to support a large-scale laptop upgrade initiative at a major enterprise customer site. This is an excellent opportunity for technicians who enjoy hands-on hardware work, device deployments, troubleshooting, and direct end-user support.

In this role, you will be responsible for performing laptop memory upgrades, hardware validation, and post-installation testing while working directly with end users in a fast-paced professional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform RAM/memory upgrades on HP EliteBook laptops following documented procedures
  • Safely disassemble and reassemble laptops
  • Update BIOS and firmware as required prior to hardware installation
  • Disconnect and reconnect internal batteries during repair activities
  • Perform embedded controller reset procedures
  • Validate memory recognition and system performance following upgrades
  • Conduct post-installation testing, including:
  • System boot verification
  • Charging functionality
  • USB-A and USB-C port testing
  • General device functionality checks
  • Coordinate directly with end users regarding scheduled appointments and device access
  • Document completed work and escalate unresolved technical issues when necessary
  • Maintain a high level of quality while meeting project timelines and service expectations

Required Qualifications

  • Experience performing hands-on laptop hardware repairs or upgrades
  • Knowledge of PC hardware components, including RAM and storage devices
  • Experience with desktop support, computer deployment, or break/fix activities
  • Familiarity with BIOS and firmware updates
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to follow technical procedures and documentation accurately
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting HP EliteBook laptops
  • Previous PC refresh, migration, or deployment project experience
  • A+, Network+, or similar technical certifications
  • Enterprise desktop support experience

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
