Your role and responsibilities

  • Manage incidents and troubleshoot issues with customers, colleagues and third parties.
  • Experience managing and supporting hybrid infrastructure environments, including on-premises datacentres and Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 services and identity platforms, including Active Directory and Entra ID.
  • Experience with server infrastructure, virtualisation, storage, and backup technologies.
  • Understanding of infrastructure and cloud security principles, including patching, hardening, and identity protection.
  • Familiarity with cloud architecture and migration approaches, including hybrid and modernisation initiatives.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across complex infrastructure environments, alongside a good understanding of ITIL service management practices.

You will need

  • proven experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments, including on-premises datacentres, virtualised platforms, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft 365 services
  • hands-on experience administering Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams, with a strong understanding of hybrid identity and authentication
  • knowledge of infrastructure security principles and best practices, including identity and access management, conditional access, privileged access, endpoint security, and security baselines across cloud and on-premises environments
  • experience using infrastructure monitoring, management, and diagnostic tools to proactively identify performance issues, monitor service health, and support capacity planning across hybrid environments
  • familiarity with Azure infrastructure services, including virtual machines, virtual networking, storage accounts, backup and recovery, Azure Monitor, and resource management, alongside an understanding of hybrid cloud architectures
  • strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues spanning servers, storage, virtualisation, cloud services, Microsoft 365, identity services, and supporting network infrastructure.

The team

The role is a part of Core Technology Services within the IT Service in Corporate Services. The team brings together technical specialists across multiple disciplines, including networks, servers, client devices, general infrastructure, Microsoft 365, unified communications, data centre services, cloud services and related technology platforms. The team works closely with service owners, project managers, suppliers and operational support teams to deliver stable services and support business change.

The teamwork in a Hybrid manner with a minimum of 2 days in the office. Although there would be requirement of increased office working for the initial period, to support training and role familiarisation.

4. Give an example of when you contributed to a cloud migration or modernisation project. How did you assess workloads, choose the right migration approach, and validate success?
