Banner Health is currently seeking an IT Engagement Owner responsible for supporting the operational management of the IT Clinical Support Analyst services team. The ideal person in this role will improve the customer and employee experience by leading a team that will provide exceptional service with a continual strive for learning and innovation. You would be charged with meeting with operational leaders to develop and improve support service as well as analyze information for quality improvement purposes.

This is an onsite (exempt) position with a typical schedule of Monday-Friday 8a-5p; however, it is also largely defendant on supporting the needs of the organization. The primary locations for this role is providing leadership support for the Central Division of the Phoenix Metro Area and will be on-site with expected rotation throughout the various supported facilities. An ideal candidate would possess a Bachelor’s Degree with 2+ years of leadership experience, past experience/interest with information technology and clinical informatics in a healthcare setting, time management skills, multitasking abilities, and strong communications skills.

This position is responsible for the operational management of IT Clinical Application Support services necessary to achieve the organization’s strategies and initiatives with focus on quality of outcomes and superior service. This position is responsible for managing IT Clinical Application Support activities across multiple locations which include the delivery of user level support, IT project implementations and facility-initiated projects. This may include implementation and support of clinical documentation applications and systems within the electronic health record (EHR). This position is responsible for directing the activities of the IT Clinical Application Support teams in support of customer interactions, as well as internal documentation standards. The functional areas may include operational oversight related to clinical documentation in the EHR.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Directs personnel actions including recruiting, new hire actions, interviewing and selection of new staff, salary determinations, training, and personnel evaluations. Manages goals and objectives for the department in accordance and alignment with company goals; provides leadership, measures and feedback, and motivation for staff achievement of departmental goals. Provides the necessary direction and support to staff in developing and maintaining high performing, customer service-oriented teams across multiple specialty areas and patient care venues. Maintain effective staff, physician, nursing, and leadership partnerships throughout select facilities, regions or specialties. Performs as an effective change agent. Establishes visibility and credibility and may lead and/or participate on assigned committees and teams. Supports an environment and infrastructure that promotes professional growth and development.

2. Participates in system level initiatives. Provides operational leadership in the support of clinical applications. Incorporates best practices and responds to emerging trends to enhance operations, programs, and/or services. This includes participating in the development and implementation of processes, procedures, and programs to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness, as well as ensure the delivery of exceptional customer support. This may include planning and developing detailed specifications for assignments, staff development, and multidisciplinary teams in assessing the quality of delivered services and implementing quality improvement action plans.

3. Collaborates with business leaders and senior IT leaders to identify operational requirements and opportunities related to IT Clinical Application Support. Communicates facility/business goals to IT leadership in order to address the needs of facility/business operations. Engages system, regional and facility stakeholders in understanding strategies for clinical applications. Maximizes staff’s contributions and assures timely decision-making reflecting the mission, vision, and purpose of Banner Health.

4. Directs and participates in the development, implementation and consistent application of effective organizational policies, procedures, and practices to comply with current laws and regulations. Regularly evaluates and identifies opportunities for the clinical functionality of systems across the continuum of care and operationalizes the process to make improvements where appropriate.


5. Participates as a subject-matter expert and may lead or facilitate task forces, teams, and/or councils to plan, implement and coordinate programs, services, and/or activities for the department. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of clinical applications specific to clinical specialty area services, current trends and issues in healthcare, regulatory and/or accreditation standards, and specialty area best practices. Identifies staff needs related to education and training in the areas of computer skills and competencies in the use of electronic tools for patient care.

6. Position provides direction and oversight for IT clinical application support activities across select facilities, regions or specialties. The incumbent is a member of the IT Clinical Applications leadership team and participates in meetings, presentations, visioning sessions, strategic and tactical planning sessions, implementation activities, and support functions in multiple locations. This position works collaboratively with other IT leaders/staff as well as corporate and facility/business entity leadership. This position is a key liaison to leadership at the locations it supports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent level of education and experience. Advanced level working knowledge of principles, practices, and operations in assigned or related area of responsibility typically achieved in five plus years including a minimum of two years management level experience within a healthcare system setting or large multi-operational, complex corporate environment.

Must demonstrate substantial knowledge of information technology and/or clinical informatics in a healthcare setting. Requires exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills to engage technical and non-technical audiences. Requires leadership skills with ability to lead, communicate, and interact across the entity and at various levels. Successful candidate will have skills and experience to recruit, mentor, motivate, evaluate, and retain staff.

As is typical in this industry, variable shifts and hours may be required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Information Technology management experience in a large healthcare environment is strongly preferred. Experience with direct patient care as a licensed professional within an acute care community hospital and/or ambulatory practice preferred. Experience using and supporting electronic health record systems, ideally Cerner Millennium preferred.
