The role:

This role is the sole position based in Kuala Lumpur, providing autonomous on-site and remote support to end users across the APAC region. As the wider IT team is UK-based and supports a different time zone, the role requires the ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and resolve issues without day-to-day local supervision.

We are looking for an Information Technology Support Engineer. This is a varied high energy and demanding role so an ability to grow and learn is a must, main duties will include supporting end users with IT requests via ticketing system, deploying IT equipment.

Install, maintain, and troubleshoot both hardware and software resulting in a high level of end user satisfaction. Utilize knowledge of equipment and systems to effectively manage and prioritise workload.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops and other end user devices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of IT assets, processes and troubleshooting steps.
  • Prioritise and maintain the status of all assigned jobs/tasks in Jira adhering to organisational standards (SLAs / KPIs etc).
  • Deliverstrong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in person and build relationships with office-based end users.
  • Manage access permissions, ensuring employees and new hires have appropriate software access levels.
  • Manage and maintain Office 365 accounts ensuring seamless functionality.
  • Ensure alignment with compliance, regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Manage the packaging and shipping of IT equipment.
  • Maintain a secure and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to confidentiality agreements.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Requirements

  • IT certification.
  • Over 5 years of relevant IT support experience or an equivalent combination of education.
  • Strong command of spoken and written English, with the ability to communicate effectively with end users and remote teams.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and self-manage as the sole IT support resource for the APAC region, with minimal day-to-day supervision.
  • Comfortable working in a predominantly office-based environment (4 days per week onsite), providing face-to-face support and user engagement.
  • Strong coordination, organisation, and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple support requests independently.
  • Experience providing desktop support with strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, acting as the primary point of contact for local end users while coordinating with remote IT teams.
  • Must have experience with ADD, user administration, including user access and group management.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills across Windows OS, macOS, and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Maintenance and replacement of laptop hardware components, and physically capable of lifting and relocating IT equipment when required.
  • Good understanding of IT compliance, security policies, and corporate governance requirements.
