We are seeking an IT Cloud Architect to join the Office of the CTO to provide architectural leadership and contribute to the strategic evolution of hybrid cloud and on-premises data infrastructure supporting Generative AI (GenAI), High-Performance Computing (HPC), research computing, and data-intensive clinical initiatives. In this highly visible role, you will define and guide modern infrastructure architectures that enable scalable GPU-accelerated environments, advanced model training and inference, and high-throughput research workloads across a global healthcare enterprise. Your work will directly support secure, resilient, and high-performing platforms that power next-generation AI capabilities and computational research.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Linux-based large-scale compute environments, cloud architecture, GPU-accelerated HPC platforms, storage systems, and AI/ML ecosystem integration. You will collaborate with engineering teams, research leadership, cybersecurity, governance, and finance partners to develop architectural roadmaps, design patterns, and implementation guidance that ensure solutions are scalable, cost-efficient, and aligned with enterprise standards. As a technical leader, you will provide architectural guidance to engineering teams, oversee the implementation of approved designs, and ensure adherence to established best practices and standards. You will maintain deep technical expertise, continuously evaluating emerging technologies and vendor solutions to determine those that best meet Mayo Clinic’s evolving research and clinical computing needs. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years' demonstrated technical experience and 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience, or Associate’s degree with 9 years’ experience and 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience, or HS/GED with 11 years of experience and 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience in a large, complex organization like Mayo Clinic may be considered in lieu of the degree.Applies advanced knowledge of a particular field of specialization to the completion of highly complex assignments. Involves medium to high level of cross-product exposure and understanding. Involved in multiple medium to large sized projects. Serves as an individual contributor, consultant to peers and provides indirect leadership. Functions with a high degree of autonomy; generally, requires little or no guidance. Works as a team lead or internal consultant. Viewed as an expert and provides knowledge and counsel to others.Certification in cloud engineering is required within 12-24 months.
