The City of Chandler Police Department, IT Division, is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as IT Chief Technology Officer This is a full-time, exempt position with full benefits. The anticipated work schedule is 4/10’s Monday - Thursday. This position provides direct support to the Police Chief and Command staff while managing and leading department-wide information technology initiatives and projects to enhance public safety.

The City of Chandler Police Department, consisting of 362 sworn officers and 177 civilians, serves a growing population of close to 287,945 residents. The organization is divided into three main divisions, one bureau, and many sections/units. The Patrol Operations Division consisting of three precincts, 1) Main Station - Downtown & North Chandler, 2) Desert Breeze - West Chandler, and 3) Chandler Heights - South Chandler, work in concert with the Criminal Investigations Division, Operational Support Division, and Professional Services Division to meet the needs of the community. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment; and is competently able to do the following when assigned to the Chandler Police Department:

  • Manages operations within area of responsibility to develop, enhance or sustain quality services by providing budget and program development and oversight; resolves complex issues; develops and communicates department and individual expectations, polices, procedures and strategic direction.
  • Supervises and oversees the daily operations of the assigned area by setting goals and objectives, manages schedules and work priorities, monitors and evaluates performance, facilitates access to resources and training, provides guidance and addresses issues, conducts interviews and makes hiring decisions.
  • Develops and administers budget recommendations.
  • Consults and interprets a variety of information for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conducts and reviews special projects.
  • Advises leadership in area of assignment.
  • May serve as backup to the Director.

Minimum qualifications

  • Must possess a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or a related field with major coursework in Information Systems; and
  • Must possess at least 8-years of recent, progressively responsible experience in project and resources management in technology;
  • Must possess at 3-years of recent supervisory and/or management experience; and
  • Must possess or be able to attain a valid Arizona driver's license with an acceptable driving record; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work will be considered.

Supervision

Work is performed under the supervision of the Chief Information Officer. This position exercises supervision over IT personnel.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with benefits. The anticipated work schedule is 4/10’s Monday - Thursday. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 6 months should another position become available.
