Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a temporary IT Business Systems Analyst or Senior to join our Information Technology team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. While this position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote.

What does an IT Business Systems Analyst do for us?

With moderate supervision, a Business Systems Analyst (BSA) works on requests and projects as a liaison between technologists and stakeholders. Their primary functions include solution assessment and validation, elicitation, analysis, management, and communication of requirements. They understand technology and applications and have experience with business processes and information systems. They translate and align solutions to meet IT strategy and business objectives, analyze and assist the business with defining and/or designing new business solutions, test and implement processes and new functionality, and troubleshoot and document system and user issues. This job resides within the IT organization.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Knowledge of:

  • Business analyst principles, requirements management, business case development, elicitation, communication, analysis and process modeling

Preferred:

  • Experience with adaptive and predictive project management methodologies

Skills in:

  • Requirements management from planning to execution
  • Developing and tracking project requirements
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Meeting facilitation and negotiation
  • Problem solving, making sound recommendations and managing expectations

Preferred:

  • Basic SQL capabilities
  • Implementation of infrastructure and application-based projects

Ability to:

  • Exercise logical reasoning and analysis
  • Exercise sound judgement and decision making
  • Gather business requirements, interpret technical specifications and relate them to system functionality
  • Facilitate work sessions with stakeholders to design or redesign business processes to meet requirements
  • Manage multiple projects/initiatives through business case development and requirements management
  • Interact and communicate clearly with technical personnel along with all levels of business leadership and project stakeholders
  • Align and fuse business and IT strategies
  • Focus on the details without losing overall perspective of the larger goal
  • Maintain effectiveness when experiencing changes in work tasks or the work environment
  • Adjust efficiently to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures
  • Prioritize course of action for self and others to ensure that work is managed effectively
  • Create and maintain business relationships


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

IT Business Systems Analyst:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or related field

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, training, and/or certifications

Experience:

  • 2 or more years of professional level IT/business experience with a minimum of 1 year of business analyst experience

Senior IT Business Systems Analyst:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or related field

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, training, and/or certifications

Experience:

  • 5 or more years professional level IT/business experience with a minimum of 3 years of business analyst experience


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Minimal supervision is provided. Completed work is intermittently reviewed. Some field work and possible overnight travel.
