Job Description

IT Business Analyst II – SQL, SDLC & Automation

Location: Miami, Florida

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Compensation: Up to $120,000, depending on experience

Position Overview

Leon Recruitment is partnering with a large, established enterprise organization to identify an IT Business Analyst II for an onsite position within its Center of Excellence.

This role is intended for a business-focused analyst who also possesses genuine technical depth. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, software developers, quality assurance, operations, and external partners to translate business needs into practical technology solutions.

The right candidate will be comfortable working with SQL, investigating system behavior, troubleshooting application and integration issues, and participating throughout the full software development lifecycle.

The organization is seeking someone who can understand the business problem, ask detailed questions, document requirements clearly, work effectively with technical teams, validate the delivered solution, and remain involved through implementation and production support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements-gathering sessions with business stakeholders to understand business problems, objectives, workflows, rules, and desired outcomes.
  • Translate business needs into clear business requirements, functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, use cases, and process flows.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, software developers, QA professionals, vendors, and other technical teams.
  • Participate throughout the full SDLC, from discovery and requirements through testing, implementation, and post-production support.
  • Analyze current-state systems and processes to identify gaps, risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Use SQL to investigate data, validate system behavior, support testing, and assist with technical troubleshooting.
  • Investigate production issues and support root-cause analysis involving applications, data, interfaces, integrations, or automated workflows.
  • Create and execute test cases, test scripts, and test scenarios.
  • Support functional testing, integration testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Track defects, clarify expected system behavior, coordinate issue resolution, and verify that fixes meet documented requirements.
  • Support process-automation and RPA initiatives through workflow analysis, requirements development, testing, exception handling, and production support.
  • Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, demonstrations, release preparation, and other Agile ceremonies.
  • Create process maps, workflow diagrams, user guides, training materials, and system documentation.
  • Train and support business users following the implementation of new systems or enhancements.

Required Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst, IT Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Systems Analyst, or in a comparable technology-facing role.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and technical requirements.
  • Experience translating stakeholder needs into functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and implementation-ready documentation.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience working directly with software-development and QA teams.
  • Working knowledge of SQL for data investigation, validation, testing, or troubleshooting.
  • Experience developing test cases and supporting UAT, defect management, and system validation.
  • Ability to conduct gap analysis, impact analysis, and root-cause investigation.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Miro, Visio, or comparable tools.
  • Strong written communication, attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Ability to work onsite in Miami.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with UiPath, robotic process automation, Power Automate, or another automation platform.
  • Experience supporting APIs, SFTP, EDI, batch processes, data interfaces, or enterprise system integrations.
  • Familiarity with API or integration-testing tools.
  • Experience working within a Microsoft or .NET enterprise environment.
  • Experience in financial services, insurance, real estate, or another regulated industry.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The strongest candidate will be more than a documentation-focused Business Analyst. This person should be able to:

  • Understand the underlying business problem rather than simply record stakeholder requests.
  • Ask technical questions and challenge incomplete requirements.
  • Work directly with developers and QA professionals.
  • Use SQL and system data to investigate issues.
  • Understand how applications and integrations interact.
  • Troubleshoot problems after implementation.
  • Learn new technologies and automation platforms quickly.
  • Take ownership of assignments from discovery through production support.

The organization is looking for someone who combines strong business judgment, technical curiosity, detail orientation, accountability, and the ability to learn quickly.
