Position:
IT Business Analyst

Role Overview

The organization is seeking an experienced
IT
Business
Analyst
to support a large, complex digital and systems
transformation initiative. This role works closely with project management,
delivery teams, vendors, and business stakeholders across the full project
lifecycle.

The Business Analyst will play a key role during the
design,
implementation, and testing phases
, ensuring business needs are accurately
translated into high‑quality system solutions that align with public‑sector
standards, governance, and digital service requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  Support
  design, implementation, and testing phases of assigned initiatives
• 
  Report
  assignment progress regularly, identify risks/issues, and recommend
  mitigation strategies
• 
  Lead
  or participate in cross‑functional teams developing business and
  technology solutions
• 
  Conduct
  feasibility analysis, project scoping, and work effort estimates
• 
  Facilitate
  Joint Application Design (JAD) and Joint Requirements Planning (JRP)
  sessions
• 
  Analyze
  and document current‑state and future‑state business processes and data
  flows
• 
  Elicit,
  analyze, validate, and document business and system requirements
• 
  Apply
  standardized requirements management tools and templates
• 
  Review
  and provide feedback on technical design documentation
• 
  Participate
  in walkthroughs at defined project milestones
• 
  Ensure
  effective knowledge transfer throughout the engagement
• 
  Follow
  direction from the Project Manager and/or Lead Business Analyst

Development & Testing Support

  test strategies, plans, and test cases

  Manage
  defect logs and issue resolution
• 
  Support
  integration, system, and user acceptance testing
• 
  Respond
  to end‑user inquiries
• 
  Coordinate
  risks, dependencies, and inter‑project activities
• 
  Maintain
  all artifacts in a shared project repository

Qualifications & Skills

Technical & Methodology

• 
  Strong
  knowledge of SDLC and delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Iterative)
• 
  Experience
  with UML, business object‑oriented modeling, and structured analysis
  techniques
• 
  Experience
  analyzing and estimating large, integrated mainframe and mid‑tier systems
• 
  Experience
  supporting complex online and batch transaction environments
• 
  Experience
  modernizing and supporting legacy systems, including COTS implementations
• 
  Experience
  with backlog management, sprint planning, and Agile facilitation
• 
  Experience
  with prototyping, reporting, and requirements management tools

Business Analysis & Public Sector Experience

• 
  Strong
  experience producing comprehensive BA deliverables
• 
  Experience
  working within public‑sector governance, architecture, and compliance
  frameworks
• 
  Knowledge
  of digital service standards and accessibility requirements (AODA)
• 
  Experience
  with feasibility studies, business cases, and approvals processes
• 
  Understanding
  of enterprise architecture checkpoints and governance models
