Job Description

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, an international law firm, is actively recruiting an IT Business Analyst. This position gathers, analyzes, and documents business requirements for changes to the firm’s systems, applications, and technology portfolio. The role serves as a liaison between business stakeholders, Service Vertical Teams (SVTS), and IT technical teams to translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements and support solution delivery. This role contributes to continuous improvement and innovation efforts, including AI initiatives, by capturing use cases and requirements, coordinating evaluation activities with requesting attorneys/teams and appropriate partners, and supporting adoption of enhancements that improve functionality and efficiency for legal professionals.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Elicits, analyzes, and documents business and functional requirements using interviews, workshops, process analysis, and other techniques; translates needs into clear deliverables such as requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  2. Acts as a liaison between business stakeholders, SVTs, and IT teams to facilitate alignment, communicate requirements, and support solution delivery; proactively identifies and helps resolve issues, risks, and conflicts.
  3. Analyzes current-state business processes and workflows to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. Recommends and supports implementation of process, workflow, and system enhancements to improve efficiency, usability, and business outcomes. Facilitates stakeholder discussions to drive consensus on solution approach, priorities, and trade-offs when business needs and system capabilities diverge.
  4. Supports solution delivery by collaborating with technical teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood and appropriately implemented. Maintains a working knowledge of firm-supported applications and stays informed on new features and capabilities to advise stakeholders.
  5. Supports AI-related initiatives by partnering with attorneys, practice groups, and administrative teams to identify use cases and requirements; coordinate evaluation activities; and support adoption planning and communications.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of job related experience required, preferably in a law firm, professional services, or other client relationship-based organization. Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
  3. Other Qualifications: Travel may be required. Availability and willingness to work long hours as needed to meet critical deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications. Strong commitment to client service excellence and teamwork. Must possess the highest standards of ethical conduct and professionalism. Must act as catalyst for change, drive and own results. Creative and innovative. Excellent communication skills (oral, written and listening) and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse group of professionals. Sound judgment and flexibility. Ability to work well under pressure, patience, diplomacy, high stress tolerance, excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing conditions. Visual acuity needed to process and read extensive written communications. Ability to receive and convey detailed information through oral communication. Essential competency processes include language ability, reasoning and memory.
