Your role:

IT Asset Management is responsible for executing the enterprise IT Asset Management (ITAM) strategy across the hardware and software estate, covering inventory, CMDB data integrity, software licence management, and lifecycle management across multiple technology domains.

This role ensures the organisation maximises the value of its software and hardware investments, minimises compliance and audit risk, and embeds ITAM/SAM disciplines into day-to-day IT operations.

You will perform data reconciliations and partner with IT procurement and finance to ensure effective governance and cost control, keeping the CMDB a reliable single source of truth for assets and configuration items.

Your responsibilities:

  • Manage hardware/software exception Service Requests through the service management workflow, fulfilling them in line with the Knowledge Base and agreed SLAs.
  • Contribute to the Knowledge Base by translating operational experience into clear, usable articles and procedures, moving knowledge from practice into a shared, accessible resource to improve team resilience.
  • Oversee the joiner, leaver, and transfer (JLT) process from an asset perspective, ensuring assets and licences are correctly assigned, recovered, and reassigned to support compliance and cost efficiency.
  • Act as the operational point of reference for field activities, raising and prioritising asset-related tasks for field technicians through established service management workflows, and following through to ensure completion and quality.
  • Manage assets across their full lifecycle, from procurement and deployment through to retirement and disposal, acting as the single source of truth for procurement and fulfilment data by tracking purchase orders, shipments, and delivery status, and verifying receipt of goods.
  • Maintain configuration data accuracy and completeness: reconcile CMDB records against the deployed estate, investigate discrepancies, and remediate errors so configuration data stays reliable and audit-ready.
  • Produce and maintain reporting and dashboards across assets, licensing, and compliance data, giving visibility into KPIs and compliance posture and highlighting opportunities to optimise.
  • Partner with IT procurement and finance to embed ITAM/SAM disciplines into sourcing, budgeting, and operational processes.

Your profile:

Essential:

  • 5-8 years of experience in Software Asset Management (SAM), IT Asset Management (ITAM), or related IT governance disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of software licensing models, compliance frameworks, and audit methodologies across major vendors (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Adobe, SAP).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for interpreting licensing data, contracts, and entitlements.
  • High attention to detail and a data accuracy mindset, with the rigour to spot, investigate, and correct discrepancies.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, balancing priorities and ensuring consistent delivery.
  • Flexibility to work on a shift basis; specific hours reviewed based on business needs.
  • Familiarity with structured IT service management practices, including Service Requests, configuration management, knowledge management, and SLA-driven support.
  • Hands-on experience operating SAM/ITAM and discovery platforms such as ServiceNow, Flexera, or Snow (or equivalent), and ITSM/service management tools such as Jira Service Management.
  • Comfortable working with asset data in Excel to reconcile, analyse, and report.
  • Experience collaborating with finance, procurement, and IT operations to embed ITAM practices and drive cost optimisation.

Nice to have:

  • ITIL 4 Foundation certification.
  • Ability to automate recurring data tasks using Python (pandas) and build reporting in Power BI. Candidates who bring these skills will work significantly more efficiently and have greater impact in the role.
  • Familiarity with cloud and hybrid licensing models, including SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS.
  • Understanding of data governance principles and their application within IT asset and configuration management.
