Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is hiring for an IT Asset Coordinator for a position within its IT Services Department in Richmond, VA.

The IT Asset Coordinator is responsible for the management, planning, purchasing, and long-term strategy of DMV’s hardware assets, including desktops and laptops. This position supports system operations by overseeing the refresh cycle, managing vendor contracts, and coordinating asset tracking to ensure DMV’s technology assets are compliant with VITA standards and compatible with the latest DMV applications.

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, serves approximately 6.2 million licensed drivers and ID card holders with over 8.4 million registered vehicles. Minimum Qualifications

-Experience managing the life cycle of IT hardware assets, including planning, procurement, and refresh of desktops, laptops, and peripheral equipment.

-Experience maintaining accurate hardware inventory and asset records, including installations, locations, conditions, and refresh status.

-Experience providing technical support for desktop and laptop hardware and software issues, including escalating unresolved problems.

-Experience conducting systems analysis to evaluate hardware compatibility with business applications and operational requirements.

-Experience documenting technical requirements and testing solutions in collaboration with technical teams.

-Knowledge of security patching and update practices for end-user computing devices.

-Experience coordinating IT installation and relocation projects, including scheduling, hardware deliveries, and timeline tracking.

-Experience communicating with vendors to coordinate installations and ensure work meets established specifications.

-Experience managing competing priorities and deadlines across multiple concurrent projects or locations.

Additional Considerations

-Knowledge of Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) standards and contracts for hardware procurement.

-Experience with operating system imaging and deployment.

-Knowledge of secure system design principles that support future upgrades without service disruption.

-Experience coordinating large-scale hardware refresh projects across multiple locations.

-Current or previous work experience with managing IT hardware assets or supporting IT projects.

-CompTIA A+ certification.

-Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate certification.
