Job Description

This is a remote position. We are looking for a Senior IT Architect to design and develop complex, scalable enterprise systems using modern software architecture patterns, microservices, and distributed technologies . The role focuses on defining system architecture, applying BDD, DDD, CQRS, Hexagonal and Event-Driven Architecture , and designing secure REST APIs and cloud-native solutions using Docker, Kubernetes, AWS or Azure . The architect will work closely with development and infrastructure teams to ensure system scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability, leveraging technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and enterprise integration platforms . Responsibilities Design and further develop complex, modular enterprise applications and systems Define system and software architecture for scalable and maintainable solutions Design and implement systems and microservices using BDD, DDD and CQRS Apply architecture patterns including Hexagonal Architecture, Onion Architecture, layered, event-driven and multi-tier architecture Design, build and secure RESTful APIs and web services Work with microservices and distributed systems Support architecture around asynchronous communication and publish/subscribe technologies such as Apache Kafka and JMS Design solutions using cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or OVH Work with containerisation and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes Ensure security, observability, reliability and maintainability of the designed solutions Cooperate with development teams working across front-end, back-end, cloud and infrastructure Requirements Senior-level experience in IT / Solution / Software Architecture Strong System Design and Architecture background Experience with BDD (Behaviour Driven Development) and DDD (Domain Driven Design) Microservices and distributed systems architecture REST APIs and web services Docker and Kubernetes Experience with cloud platforms ( AWS, Azure or OVH ) English – minimum B2 (C1 preferred) Legal eligibility to work within the EU Availability for occasional business trips to Brussels (up to 5 days per quarter) Education and experience requirements: Master's degree (EQF Level 7) + minimum 15 years of professional IT experience , OR Bachelor's degree (EQF Level 6) + minimum 17 years of professional IT experience Nice to Have CQRS , Hexagonal Architecture, Onion Architecture, Event-Driven Architecture Apache Kafka, JMS and asynchronous messaging Java, Python, Spring Boot, Hibernate WebLogic Application Server, JEE, EJB Angular, React, Bootstrap , JavaScript, HTML, CSS Database management and data modelling Identity, security and networking concepts Observability: monitoring, tracing and logging System Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles Agile / Scrum experience French language Experience with large-scale enterprise and cloud-native systems Benefits • Flexible remote work model (up to 5 days on-site in Brussels per quarter, with at least 14 days’ advance notice) • Solid, competitive salary • Work in a multinational environment on international projects • Comprehensive healthcare • Long-term B2B contract with a stable project pipeline
