Applications Engineer – Integrations and Reporting

This position is responsible for the design, development or configuration, implementation and maintenance of business solutions, with a heavy focus on integrations, data engineering, and reporting.

The successful candidate will have the following:
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the company
  • The ability to take initiative to isolate and solve problems, utilizing strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Experience using Agile and Scrum project management methodology and principles
  • Understanding of systems development and programming standards and lifecycles
  • Strong knowledge and skills relating to data ingestion, storage, processing, modelling, and reporting using Microsoft Azure, Azure Data Factory, Power BI, and Power Platform.
  • Experience developing enterprise reporting, dashboards, scorecards, and analytical solutions for business stakeholders.
  • Experience designing and supporting ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and system integrations.
  • Working knowledge of data analytics and data science concepts, including data quality, data modelling, trend analysis, and data visualization.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies, automation, AI, and analytics platforms.
Education and Knowledge:
  • Bachelor’s degree (Engineering, Science or Applied Science, Computing), equivalent trade school diploma (e.g. Technology Management) or equivalent work experience in the IT field
  • Microsoft Technologies: Azure, SQL Server (complex SQL queries, data extraction, transformation, data manipulation, security, and performance optimization), Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Power BI (report development, dashboards, semantic models, DAX, and visualization best practices).
  • MS Power Platform including Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Copilot-related technologies.
  • SSRS Reporting, Python, HTML, XML, JSON, REST APIs, Active Directory, and Data Analytics.
  • Experience developing and implementing ETL/ELT solutions using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, KingswaySoft, SSIS, Microsoft Fabric, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modelling, data governance, and reporting architectures.
  • Understanding of data science principles, including data preparation, exploratory analysis, predictive concepts, and business intelligence methodologies.
  • Experience with application development considered an asset.
  • Experience with O365, Dynamics 365, ERP systems, EDI, and enterprise integrations considered an asset.
  • Programming experience in VB.NET, C#, X++, Python, or similar languages would be beneficial.
  • Previous experience in the retail industry considered an asset.
