About the context

Chanel is a federated organisation running divisions and regions all over the globe. As Chanel continues to embrace investment in transformative technologies, we are seeking to continue the development and implementation of the technology roadmap for Legal Technologies.

Within Chanel’s Global Corporate IT teams, the Legal domain managed common technologies related to Legal Expert Functions (Compliance/Data Privacy, Corporate, Public Affairs, Intellectual Property, Technology and Litigation) and Legal Operations.

The IT Application Manager – Legal will be responsible for the smooth operation of our legal IT applications and will also lead changes and continuous improvement evolutions to meet the needs of our users. Current technology solutions owned within the Legal Expert Functions portfolio include:

  • ALM – a Power Apps based contract lifecycle management solution
  • iManage – Legal document and matters management platform
  • Docusign - cloud-based platform to send, sign, and manage agreements electronically
  • Diligent – Legal Entities Master Data Management solution
  • TRACE – Emplyee Gifts and Hospitality Disclosure
  • Navex - Business Ethics & Compliance Whistleblowing Program.
  • BvD / Moody’s - Legal vendor screening and as the database for Reputational and Financial Risks
  • OneTrust – Privacy, security and data governance compliance solution
  • SAI360 – eLearning management system for Business Ethics & Compliance, including Anti-corruption, Data Privacy and Anti-harassment
  • BMAC/Brick & Mortar – Custom built, offline/physical Anti-Counterfeit solution
  • Anaqua AQX – Intellectual Property Management and Trademark Management system
  • ID Cards – PowerApps based solution for online anti-counterfeit management
  • Navee - online Anti-Counterfeit monitoring SaaS service

Your role @ Chanel

The key responsibilities within the scope of this role will include the following:

Application Management, Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement

  • Manage a portfolio of Legal IT applications, ensuring effective operation, maintenance, and evolution in line with business needs.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for application support, coordinating with internal teams and third-party vendors.
  • Oversee release and enhancement cycles, ensuring timely delivery and minimal disruption.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation and knowledge bases for all applications in scope.
  • Implement and monitor support models, including hybrid approaches with internal and external resources.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, identifying and implementing enhancements to maximise application value.
  • Provide expert technical assistance and troubleshooting guidance to support teams.
  • Ensure incidents and requests are resolved efficiently, leveraging tools such as ServiceNOW, Jira, and internal knowledge databases.

Project Delivery and Execution

  • Support the implementation of new Legal IT solutions and enhancements to existing applications.
  • Collaborate with Legal, IT, and vendor teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality expectations.

Vendor and Partner Management

  • Develop close relationships and manage operational dependencies with internal teams e.g. Intelligent Automation (e.g. Power Apps and AI), Integration, Infrastructure and Cyber
  • Manage the performance and service quality from vendors and collaborate closely with Indirect Procurement and Legal to ensure robust management of contracts.

Security & Compliance:

  • Ensure all Legal IT applications adhere to security best practices and data privacy regulations.

Team Management

  • Manage and mentor application management support teams, promoting growth and excellence.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong relationships with Legal stakeholders, understanding their needs and ensuring technology solutions deliver business value.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience IT Service Management roles and IT Project Management roles, with a strong understanding of application lifecycle management, support models, and vendor management.
  • In-depth knowledge of Legal domain and associated technology, with hands-on experience of a wide range of Legal technologies
  • Technical troubleshooting skills and experience with support tools (e.g., ServiceNOW, Jira).
  • Strong Knowledge of ITIL processes and best practices.
  • Strong vendor management skills.
  • Solid understanding of IT security and data protection regulations principles.
  • Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working in a global, matrixed environment is a plus.
  • English is a must, French is a plus.
