This position has a team size of 5 operating from the Chennai office, supporting global internal employees and the Database involves SQL Server and Oracle. The support involves mission-critical system and ensuring 24x7 availability of production system

  • 24X7 DB Support (On-Call Support on weekends)
  • Support & Monitor – MSSQL Staging and Production Landscapes
  • Supporting Service Now and AR Tickets on DB Issues
  • Support and Deployment of SQL Azure Databases
  • Administration of configuration of Foglight tool for SQL/ DB Server notification & Alerts
  • Regular patch updates on MSSQL Landscapes
  • Attending Conferences on SQL component
  • Implementing best practices on SQL Server domain
  • Provision of New Servers and Databases
  • Planning / Sizing / Capacity Planning or Questions about proposed or approved projects
  • /Architecture, (re)design or current/existing or new processes, systems, solutions including adoption of new processes from other groups such as computing, storage, backups, monitoring etc.
  • Upgrades, Support packs, Kernels, Hardware replacements,
  • Create Maintenance Plans, Scripts, Processes, Procedures, guides for standard operations
  • Installation, Configurations, Tuning Parameters
  • Design, Deploy, build and Implement
  • Analytical Trending for performance, capacity and availability
  • Monitoring and responding to space, availability, errors, alerts, logs, standard jobs
  • Monitor Job Schedules in SQL Server
  • Analysis on reoccurring errors and fix errors proactively
  • Initial investigation into isolated performance issues - escalate quickly if it is a sev one major impact
  • perform standard SQL Server DB recovery request
  • Respond to SQL Server User maintenance requests (following guidelines). (No Local Operating System Users - SQL User and Role assignments only)

o Installation Configuration and Administration of SQL Server 2008 R2 to 2016

o Experience in Disaster recovery, backup and recovery

o Experience in database migration/upgrades and patch management

o Expertise in Database Performance /Tuning, Query Optimization

o Experience supporting mission-critical system and ensuring 24x7 availability of production system.

o Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies and issue resolution techniques

o Experience working on Windows 2012, Windows 2016 and Red Hat LINUX operating systems

o Experience writing Power Shell scripts to automate, monitoring, perform maintenance operations.

o Ability to work with 3rd party vendors to implement technology initiatives and resolve problems/issues/bugs.

o Foglight Monitoring Tool Administration and Configuration

o Experience on managing and administration of SQL Azure databases

o Good experience in supporting SOX, PCI and PII compliance controls

o Experience in SQL/TSQL

o Experience on Cloud platforms

Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires at least 3 - 5 year related experience.

Nice to have:

Experience supporting Oracle RAC, ASM and Clusterware. DataGuard is a plus.

o Experience working in OEM

o Experience on Virtualization

o Experience on Cosmos DB/NoSQL is plus

o Demonstrated progressive experience in enterprise design and implementation.

o Working as a team member with technical corporate engineering team.

o Familiarity with ITIL concepts, specifically in the area of service delivery preferred.

o Requires familiarity database objects, relationship and security. Requires clear written and verbal communication in a technical context.
