IT Analyst – Engineering Simulation
Role Purpose
The IT Analyst – Engineering Simulation supports the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of engineering simulation applications and related IT services. The role ensures that simulation tools are available, secure, compliant, and aligned with business and engineering needs. In addition, improve tools efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, and enhance engineering IT processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations and Application Management
- Support the operation and lifecycle management of engineering simulation / CAE applications such as Ansys, Abaqus, HyperWorks or FloEFD
- Coordinate software releases, updates, patching, and maintenance activities
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for technical issues and incidents
- Monitor application performance, usage, and availability
- Support license compliance and usage monitoring
- Contribute to documentation, training materials, and knowledge transfer
2. Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering teams, IT colleagues, product owners, and vendors
- Support the implementation of approved enhancements and business requirements
- Communicate application changes, updates, and relevant operational topics to users and stakeholders
- Support global users and collaborate across regions and functions
3. Security, Compliance, and Change Management
- Support security, compliance, and change management processes
- Ensure that application-related activities follow internal standards and governance requirements
- Assist with access control, release coordination, and documentation of changes
- Support audit-related activities where required
4. Continuous Improvement and Automation
- Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and process improvement
- Support the optimization of workflows and operational processes
- Use scripting and automation tools such as Python or PowerShell where applicable
5. Budget, Cost Management, and Charging
- Support monitoring and management of application-related costs
- Assist with budget planning and forecasting for licensing, maintenance, training, enhancements, and external services
- Contribute to cost transparency and support decision-making for application-related investments
- Monitor usage trends to help optimize cost efficiency and resource allocation
- Support the creation of cost charging models and the calculation and allocation of charges to users or business units.
Required Skills
- Experience with mechanical simulation or engineering simulation / CAE applications (ANSYS, ABAQUS, COMSOL, Siemens FloEFD, Altair Hyperworks)
- Basic understanding of IT infrastructure and application operations
- Scripting or automation skills, e.g. Python, PowerShell
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work in global and cross-functional teams
- Interest in and openness to working with AI-supported tools and digital solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in CAE application support or engineering IT
- Knowledge of license management, release management, or ITIL processes
- Familiarity with HPC, virtualization, or hybrid environments
- Experience with AI-enabled automation, data analysis, or workflow optimization
- Experience in documentation, training coordination, or process standardization
