The AI Architect defines and evolves Capital Health's enterprise artificial intelligence architecture, technical standards, reusable patterns, and platform strategy. This senior hands-on architecture role establishes how AI capabilities are securely and consistently designed, integrated, evaluated, deployed, monitored, and governed across internally developed products and enterprise workflows. The AI Architect provides technical direction for large language models, agentic systems, retrieval-augmented generation, enterprise knowledge, model and provider integration, tool orchestration, identity and access, voice and conversational AI, observability, evaluations, guardrails, human oversight, and AI platform services. The role partners with AI Engineers, Product Developers, Product Engineers, the Data Architect, Data Engineers, Security, Infrastructure, Clinical and Business Applications, Compliance, Privacy, and operational leadership to create reusable enterprise capabilities rather than isolated one-off AI implementations. The AI Architect remains technically hands-on and is expected to create reference implementations, lead architecture reviews, solve complex engineering problems, and guide AI Engineers while preserving appropriate architectural flexibility as the technology evolves.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and highly relevant architecture and engineering experience.
Demonstrated extensive experience designing and delivering enterprise software, cloud, data, machine learning, generative AI, or agentic systems, including responsibility for architecture decisions that span multiple products or teams. Must demonstrate strong hands-on engineering depth, experience establishing reusable technical standards, and the ability to guide complex production implementations. Experience in healthcare, regulated environments, or sensitive-data architectures is strongly preferred.

Expert knowledge of enterprise AI architecture and modern software engineering, including LLM and model integration, model gateways, agent frameworks, tool/function calling, RAG and enterprise knowledge architectures, embeddings/vector search, context and state management, evaluation frameworks, observability, guardrails, human-in-the-loop design, identity and authorization, API architecture, cloud platforms, CI/CD, secure deployment, performance, resilience, and cost management. Strong understanding of privacy, security, data governance, responsible AI, healthcare interoperability, and integration with EHR and enterprise systems. Ability to create reference architectures, evaluate emerging technologies, communicate complex tradeoffs, and influence technical direction across organizational boundaries.
Special Training:
Advanced training in AI architecture, cloud architecture, generative AI and agentic systems, responsible AI, AI security, evaluation/red teaming, enterprise integration, healthcare interoperability, or related disciplines is preferred.
Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities:
Ability to think strategically and systemically while remaining technically hands-on; make high-impact architecture decisions under uncertainty; balance standardization with innovation; influence senior technical and business stakeholders; communicate complex concepts clearly; mentor engineers; identify enterprise risks early; and maintain strong judgment regarding privacy, security, patient safety, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
