How does this role contribute to our collective success?

The State Filings Analyst (ISO) is a senior professional responsible for leading the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of ISO-based rate and form filings. This role plays a critical part in enabling the organization to bring products to market efficiently while helping to maintain filing compliance across jurisdictions.

As a key partner to underwriting, product development, actuarial, and legal teams, this role interprets complex filing requirements, shapes filing strategies, and resolves filing challenges. The individual serves as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert, helping balance business objectives, compliance obligations, and speed-to-market priorities.

Success in this role requires deep ISO filing expertise, strong judgment, and the ability to influence outcomes in a dynamic and often changing environment.

What will you do in this role?

Filing Strategy & Execution

  • Lead the end-to-end strategy and execution of ISO-based rate and form filings across commercial lines, including General Liability, Commercial Property, Commercial Auto, and Inland Marine

  • Interpret ISO circulars, loss costs and requirements, and translate them into effective filing strategies aligned with business objectives

  • Evaluate and recommend filing approaches (e.g., LCMs, deviations, exception pages) based on regulatory requirements, timing considerations, and competitive positioning

  • Anticipate potential filing objections and proactively design solutions to mitigate approval risks

Technical Leadership & Advisory

  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on ISO filings and requirements

  • Provide consultative guidance to underwriting, actuarial, and product teams on ISO based product changes and new initiatives

  • Offer expert recommendations on filing strategy, structure, timing, and execution

Stakeholder Partnership & Influence

  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams to align filing strategies with business goals and regulatory expectations

  • Act as the primary point of contact for complex and high-impact filing initiatives

  • Serve as a key liaison with state Departments of Insurance, including managing communications and resolving escalated issues

  • Influence decision-making through strong filing insight and effective communication

Process Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Identify and implement improvements to ISO filing processes to enhance efficiency, consistency, and speed-to-market

  • Establish and promote best practices in filing strategy, documentation, and regulatory engagement

  • Monitor and leverage systems such as SERFF and FilingRamp to ensure accurate tracking, compliance, and workflow management

  • Contribute to initiatives that enhance the effectiveness of the filings function

About You

We are looking for a highly experienced professional who brings deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to operate independently while influencing across a broad stakeholder group.

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of experience in insurance rate and form filings, with significant focus on ISO-based products

  • Deep knowledge of ISO commercial lines manuals, circulars, loss costs, and regulatory practices

  • Proven ability to interpret complex filing requirements and develop effective filing strategies

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex filings and resolving filing objections

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information

  • Ability to operate independently with minimal direction while managing multiple priorities and deadlines

What we prefer you to have:

  • Experience serving as a technical lead or subject matter expert within a regulatory or filings function

  • Demonstrated success in improving processes or leading initiatives

  • Advanced experience with SERFF, FilingRamp, IRFS, or similar filing systems

Role Factors

  • Hybrid work model: in-office 3 days per week

What we offer
