Reporting to the Technical Manager, the position is responsible for monitoring, operating, maintaining, and repairing island-wide systems including power generation, water production and distribution, wastewater treatment, pools, attractions, marina support systems, and other critical guest and employee infrastructure.

The 3rd Engineer participates in rotating technical watches, responds to operational issues, and assists with preventative and corrective maintenance activities to ensure uninterrupted island operations and an exceptional guest experience

Essential Functions

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain island utility systems, including power generation, water treatment and distribution, wastewater treatment, pools, water features, and recreational systems.

  • Participate in technical watchkeeping duties and monitor the performance of critical infrastructure and machinery.

  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance as directed by the Technical Manager.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, marine, and utility-related issues throughout the island.

  • Support emergency response activities and infrastructure recovery efforts during operational incidents or weather events.

  • Ensure compliance with Safety Management System (SMS) procedures and environmental standards.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders within the approved maintenance management system.

  • Assist with contractor oversight and project support as required.

  • Support training and mentoring of technical personnel when assigned.

  • Perform additional duties as required to support island operations and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • STCW or equivalent marine engineering training from an accredited institution preferred.

  • Unlimited 3rd Engineer License or equivalent engineering certification preferred.

  • Bahamian Endorsement or ability to obtain one preferred.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in engineering, utilities, facilities maintenance, marine engineering, power generation, or related infrastructure operations.

  • Experience with power plants, water treatment systems, wastewater treatment systems, pumps, generators, and mechanical equipment is highly desirable.

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Attributes

  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills required.

  • Computer literacy and experience with maintenance management systems preferred.
