This role will be based in our Dublin office with occasional travel to Kilroot Power Station, Ballylumford Power Station in Northern Ireland and Tyangh Power Station in Galway.

An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Trading Analyst, supporting the TTEP All-Island Trading Team. The All-Island Trading Team is responsible for delivering optimisation, risk management and wholesale market access services for all TTEP assets in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland into the All Island Single electricity Market (I-SEM).

The Trading Analyst shall be responsible for supporting the day-to-day activities of the All-Island Trading Team. The Trading Analyst will provide key analytical support for the trading and optimisation of a growing TTEP generation portfolio, including Tynagh Energy CCGT, Ballylumford CCGTs and Kilroot OCGTs.

Responsibilities will include developing and maintaining in-house bidding and analytical tools and processes to maximise gross margin across all trading horizons ranging from Forward hedging, day-ahead, intraday and real time despatch.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have responsibility for trading analysis and tool development within the business including, but not limited to:
  • Analysis and market modelling to support ex-ante market bids for multiple thermal units in I-SEM.
  • Assessing balancing market opportunities, optimisation of asset ex-ante position and maximising within day opportunities.
  • Gas capacity analysis to optimise costs, maximise secondary trade opportunities and long-term capacity strategies.
  • Gas market analysis to support and optimise market performance through forward purchasing and hedging strategy.
  • Carbon market analysis to support and optimise market performance through forward purchasing and hedging strategy.
  • Long term market analysis to support integration and growth of the TTEP generation portfolio into I-SEM.
  • Developing improved analytical tools and capabilities and develop reports to support and grow success of generation portfolio trading strategy.
  • Conducting competitor analysis and continuous review of participant bidding strategies.
  • Preparing, analysing, and summarising market and analytical reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Working across the TTEP Trading and Commercial teams to support ongoing development of analytical capabilities.
  • Adhering to the business’s Trading Procedures and Protocols.
  • Providing regular and ad-hoc information to various TTEP departments, including Asset Development, Finance, Corporate Finance etc.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Background
  • Advanced level MS suite including Excel and Power BI.
  • Advanced programming language skills including Python, MATLAB, C/C++, R, SQL etc.
  • ISEM market knowledge would be an advantage.

Qualifications
  • Degree in a relevant Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance Business discipline - essential.
