The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of SCADA IT Operations, Information Services, the Infrastructure Specialist is an expert in administrating and running major infrastructure components for TC Energy’s mission critical IS systems.
As an experienced infrastructure specialist, the successful applicant will provide support and maintenance to ensure a properly stable and reliable 24/7/365 operation of infrastructure services that meet business desired service levels. Infrastructure components include, Intel Hardware, Operating Systems, Active Directory, Virtualization, and Storage. This role will be responsible for technology stability/upgrades, patch management, critical patch updates, system configuration, and security programs. Working closely with application teams, end users, IS security, project management, DBAs, and network operations staff will be required to provide a continuous uptime experience.
What you'll do
Support ongoing safe, reliable and efficient operation of critical IS systems through maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause failure analysis, corrective action and administration of multiple infrastructures
Install, configure, administer, and maintain compute and storage environments
Proactively monitor and manage the environment for hardware failures, software failures, and performance problems
Collaborate with internal operations staff across business units, IS, and third-party service providers when troubleshooting complex issues
Develop and maintain system documentation, operating procedures and inventory
Develop and maintain lifecycle plans and roadmaps
Perform capacity monitoring and management
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Participate in major infrastructure projects
Provide assistance with Business Continuity planning and Data Center contingencies
Ensure the security of TC Energy systems and respond promptly to security incidents
Plan and coordinate major system upgrades
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a technical diploma in a related discipline
4+ years server support experience
Preferred Qualifications
8+ years experience
MCSE/MSITP
Solid understanding and hands on experience supporting current and legacy Windows server operating systems including 2016, 2012, 2008, and 2003
Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with clients, support staff, vendors, and service providers
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues in complex mission critical environments
Possess excellent organizational and planning skills and have the ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines
Have a strong personal initiative, ability to deliver high-quality results, and desire for continuous improvement
Demonstrated ability to work independently or as a team when necessary
Coach and mentor other employees within the team
Experience managing Active Directory
Experience with converged and hyper converged technologies such as Cisco Flexpod and Nutanix
Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare
Experience with storage technologies such as NetApp
Previous experience with mission critical systems
Previous experience in the pipeline industry
Previous experience with Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) and/or Nutanix
Scripting knowledge (PowerShell, VBScript etc.)
