Summary/Objective
A Cashier’s primary role is to provide guests with outstanding customer service for the gift shop and ticket sales aboard the retired ore ship, the William A. Irvin.
Schedule
This position is part-time with a schedule based on the primary tourist season.    The Cashiers are expected to work variable shifts and must be available to work weekends.  Approximately
8-30 hours per week.  This schedule is subject to change.
Uniform
Cashiers must provide their own khaki or dress slacks or long shorts (jeans are not allowed).  The DECC will provide polos or t-shirts with the William A. Irvin logo.
Essential Functions (Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.)
Greet guests with a friendly disposition as they enter or exit the William A. Irvin
Answer guest questions regarding the William A. Irvin tours, merchandise, and other local Duluth attractions
Check inventory for pricing and quantity accuracy
Handle cash, credit, or check transactions
Responsible for maintaining accuracy of the cash drawer
Maintain receipt records and report to supervisor
Responsible for helping keeping the ship clean and tour-ready
Assist team and/or other departments with tasks, including light cleaning, moving chairs, merchandise, or signage, and other event or tour related functions
Create and maintain a professional and hospitable appearance and atmosphere
Competencies
Ability to maintain a cheerful disposition while quickly and courteously responding to guests
Ability to contribute to building a positive team spirit and working well with others
Ability to show respect and sensitivity for cultural and personal differences

While performing the duties of a Cashier, you are regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and warm and/or humid areas. You may be exposed to high places, narrow passageways and steep stairs.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands
Cashiers are regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. You must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This position will require someone that is able to sit or stand for many hours at a time.

The DECC uses USCIS Form I-9 to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment. On the form, an employee must attest to his or her employment authorization. The employee is required to present the DECC with acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorization at the time of hire. The DECC will examine the employment eligibility and identity document(s).
The list of acceptable documents can be provided by Human Resources.

This position is at will. This means if you are offered the position and accept, your employment with the DECC is for an indefinite period of time and it is subject to termination by you or the DECC, with or without cause, with or without notice, and at any time.
