About the Role
SMEC is seeking an Irrigation Engineer specializing in canal systems to support hydraulic design and engineering analysis for gravity irrigation infrastructure.

The role will contribute to the design and rehabilitation of canal networks and hydraulic structures within the irrigation system.

Engagement:


This opportunity forms part of an Expression of Interest (EOI) submission for a major irrigation infrastructure project currently in the bidding stage. Engagement will be subject to project award and client approval.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the engineering design of irrigation canal systems and conveyance structures
  • Conduct hydraulic analysis for gravity irrigation systems
  • Prepare technical calculations and design documentation
  • Assist in the development of engineering drawings and system layouts
  • Review canal alignment, cross sections, and hydraulic structures
  • Support irrigation network planning and system optimization
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering reports and technical documentation
  • Coordinate with project teams during design development

Key Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in water resources, irrigation, hydraulics, or drainage
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience
  • At least 8 years of experience in irrigation canal design
  • Experience with hydraulic structures and gravity irrigation systems
  • Minimum 3 years of international project experience
  • Experience supporting irrigation infrastructure construction and maintenance planning
  • Fluency in English
