Maintain and enforce safe rock wall and low ropes practices. Facilitate rock wall and low ropes activities and events. Rock wall and low ropes events are held Saturdays every fall and spring.

Major Accountabilities

  1. Be responsible for maintaining the health and safety of participants and family members.
  2. Facilitate rock wall and low ropes events, including facilitating activities.
  3. Teach safe climbing, belaying and spotting.
  4. Maintain an organized and clean facility, equipment, and supplies; report needed repairs.
  5. Assist in the opening, closing, and cleaning of the rock wall and low ropes course.
  6. Ensure adherence to Wisconsin ATCP 78 and GSUSA Safety Activity Checkpoints for Climbing Activities and ACA guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Help campers, families, and volunteers follow directions and rules.
  2. Promote a sense of responsibility, teamwork and positive challenge seeking while climbing or participating in team building activities.
  3. Maintain a safe work environment.
  4. Conduct check of area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair; each date there is an event.
  5. Supervise campers and family participation in structured and unstructured activities.
  6. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Position Requirements

  1. At least 18 years of age.
  2. Current certification ACCT Level 1 certification, equivalent certification or a willingness to get certified.
  3. Current certification in CPR and Standard First Aid.
  4. Ability to lift at least 40 lbs.
  5. Experience in a climbing setting or certification is preferred.
  6. Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule.
  7. Willingness to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout program and enroll as a Girl Scout member.
  8. Provide your own transportation to and from camp for each event.
  9. Physical demands and work environments regularly require the employee to walk, hike, and work outdoors in wooded areas and on uneven natural paths.
