Job Description

Exciting Opportunity for a Structural Steel Ironworker!

Do you like working with your hands and having a sense of accomplishment of what you do every day, then JPW Erectors may be the place for you. JPW has been building the businesses, industries, institutions and health care facilities all along the East Coast for decades.

This work is performed inside & outside in all types of environmental conditions. This position at times will require strenuous physical activity, for long periods, under varying field conditions. This position must be able to lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs., stand, walk on uneven surfaces, manually manipulate, grasp, reach out and above shoulder, climb, kneel, bend, twist, and push/pull.

Responsibilities:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites.
  • Must be able to safely work at heights up to and in excess of 100 ft.
  • Motivated, hardworking, punctual.
  • Ability and willingness to follow safety guidelines and protocol.
  • Be accountable for own conduct and have excellent attendance.
  • Work with other trades when required.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to pass a 7018-stick vertical, over-head, & deck welding test.
  • Must have 3-5 years’ experience in Structural Steel Erection.
  • Willingness to work on aerial equipment (ladder, scissor lift, boom lift, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of basic hand tools (tape measure, square, etc.).
  • Assemble and/or fabricate equipment, structures, towers, vessels, conveyors, etc. from instructions from supervisors and/or prints.
  • Ability to install structural steel, connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts following blue prints using various bolts, nuts, washers and torqueing.
  • Modification of structural steel by cutting and welding.
  • Unloading and positioning prefabricated material and equipment for hoisting as needed.
  • Safety is a priority; employee must understand construction risks, be knowledgeable in and follow current safety standards, reporting any concerns to their supervisor.
  • Ability to travel in and out of state (travel expenses covered by company) and willing to work overtime hours up to 7 days per week as required.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test & post-offer physical with back-evaluation.
