Job Description

Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead – Electromechanical Systems

Location: Chaska, MN (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $133,000 – $165,000/year + quarterly bonus

Our client is a leading aerospace and defense manufacturer developing embedded electrical power systems and flight actuation control systems for commercial and military platforms. They're seeking an IPT Lead to guide technical teams through new product development — from requirements definition through design, integration, testing, and release.

This role blends hands-on technical leadership with people management: you'll own the technical execution of high-priority programs while directly managing a team of project engineers. Expect significant interaction with senior engineers, systems engineers, test engineers, program managers, and customers. The role is roughly 75% direct technical/project leadership and 25% functional team management.

What You'll Do

Technical & Project Leadership

  • Lead technical teams from project kickoff through completion on electromechanical systems for commercial and military platforms
  • Manage team performance against project schedule and cost, in partnership with the program manager
  • Plan, organize, and control work across one or more concurrent projects
  • Define system-level and lower-level engineering requirements
  • Build engineering development plans, WBS, and resource plans to execute projects
  • Manage engineering budget within 10% of approved targets
  • Interface directly with commercial and military customers on technical program definition and execution
  • Review technical reports and deliverables for internal and external stakeholders
  • Support new business pursuits, including technical scope, schedule, and cost input

Team & Functional Leadership

  • Manage recruitment, selection, training, performance assessment, and work assignments for a team of project engineers
  • Ensure compliance tasks and internal processes are followed and taught across the team
  • Develop and maintain cross-project communication tools, templates, and training
  • Build and maintain monthly resource demand plans
  • Own talent and capability roadmap development for the team
  • Lead internal staff meetings and communication up/down the organization

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering
  • 6+ years of experience as a technical lead
  • New product development experience in the aerospace/defense industry
  • Proven experience leading a project from start to finish
  • Experience building WBS, project plans, and technical requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project
  • Proficiency in Earned Value Management (EVM) and Control Account Management
  • Strong documentation, writing, and presentation skills
  • Comfortable working closely with engineers and technicians in a lab/manufacturing setting
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Work Environment

  • Combination of business office and manufacturing/lab environments (machine shop, assembly, test)
  • Appropriate eye, hearing, and foot protection used as required in production areas
  • Some periods of overtime/deadline-driven work expected

Benefits

Competitive salary plus quarterly bonus, medical/dental/vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) with company match, generous tuition assistance, paid vacation/sick/personal time, paid holidays, and flexible/compressed work week options.

Equal Opportunity Employer – M/F/IWD/Veterans. Veterans encouraged to apply.
