BeOne Medicines is seeking an innovative and driven Research Scientist to contribute to the development of our next-generation iPSC-derived cell therapy pipeline across oncology and immunology & inflammation (I&I) indications. The successful candidate will bring strong scientific judgment, hands-on research experience, and the ability to independently drive complex research activities from concept through execution.
In this role, you will apply expertise in areas such as iPSC biology, cell engineering, and immunological functional characterization to advance therapeutic programs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate disease-specific therapeutic goals into actionable R&D plans, troubleshoot complex biological and technical challenges, and drive projects toward key milestones. Depending on experience and demonstrated capabilities, the role may provide opportunities to take on increasing project ownership and scientific leadership responsibilities.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
a. Conceptualize, design, and optimize robust strategies for iPSC differentiation and lineage assessment.
b. Translate high-level therapeutic objectives into rigorous, hypothesis-driven experimental roadmaps aligned with corporate pipeline milestones.
a. Drive project execution, including experimental planning, timeline management, data analysis, and coordination across multiple workstreams.
b.Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of scientific objectives, priorities, and deliverables.
c. Synthesize complex datasets into clear, actionable presentations and technical reports for internal leadership, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders.
a. Lead the design, optimization, and execution of comprehensive in vitro assays, including high-parameter multi-color flow cytometry, immune effector cytotoxicity, co-culture killing assays, and multiplex cytokine profiling.
b. Drive deep phenotypic and functional characterization of iPSC-derived cell products to support product and process development.
c. Develop and optimize fit-for-purpose analytical approaches to address program-specific scientific questions.
a. Provide support for GxP cleanroom activities as needed based on project requirements.
Requirements & Technical Skills
o In-depth hands-on and theoretical expertise in cell therapy and immunotherapy principles.
o Proven capability in high-parameter flow cytometry, immunological functional assays (e.g., CAR-T or NK/T-cell cytotoxicity, intracellular cytokine staining, cytokine bead array), and primary/engineered immune cell co-cultures.
o With an understanding of GxP cleanroom operations, process development, or translational cell therapy manufacturing is highly advantageous.
o Track record of independent research design, high-impact problem solving, and scientific publications or patent filings.
o Strong project management skills with the ability to balance scientific rigor against aggressive corporate timelines.
