Job Description

Procurement (Senior) Manager

Ready to partner directly with leadership to transform procurement across our fastest-growing region – where your strategic decisions reach 95% of the world's population?

Your new role

As Procurement (Senior) Manager for IO-SO, you'll be at the strategic heart of procurement operations, driving initiatives that span regions and influence how we deliver life-saving medicines to patients. Based in Zürich, you'll balance hands-on procurement management with high-level strategic projects that shape the future of our procurement function.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing spend and providing expert procurement support to all departments across IO-SO, ensuring optimal value and strategic alignment
  • Leading and coordinating projects across multiple IO regions, bringing together diverse stakeholders to deliver impactful outcomes
  • Partnering directly with the VP, Head of IO Procurement, on critical strategic initiatives including strategy development, organisational transformation, and digital innovation.
  • Serving as the primary liaison with Global Procurement, championing and implementing global initiatives while ensuring regional needs are met
  • Identifying opportunities for procurement process optimisation and innovation, leveraging digital tools and best practices
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to drive procurement excellence

Your new department

The IO-SO Procurement team, based in Zürich, drives procurement excellence across our Southern Europe and broader International Operations region. We manage local spend, support diverse departments, and lead selected global sourcing projects that have company-wide impact. Our team thrives on collaboration, strategic thinking, and innovation – constantly seeking better ways to optimise processes and contribute to Novo Nordisk's mission of defeating serious chronic diseases.

Your skills & qualifications

We're looking for a strategic procurement professional who combines operational excellence with the ability to drive transformation across a complex, global organisation.

You'll bring:

  • Extensive procurement or sourcing experience, ideally within a global organisation with proven ability to manage cross-regional projects and stakeholders
  • Strong strategic thinking capabilities combined with hands-on execution skills – you're equally comfortable developing strategy as you are implementing it
  • Exceptional relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leadership and diverse stakeholders across cultures and regions
  • Experience with digital procurement tools and innovation strategies, with curiosity about how technology can transform procurement operations
  • Outstanding organisational and project management abilities, able to juggle multiple priorities while maintaining strategic oversight
  • Excellent communication skills in English (additional languages are advantageous given the regional scope)
  • A relevant degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
