Job Description

Accounting for the Investment of Schools

  • Receives SDT (Summary of Daily Transactions) from Investment Treasury, reviews and prepares the final copy
  • Approves the daily transactions (rollover, new investments, withdrawals, money market placements, mutual funds, stocks, dividends) encoded by the Investment Operations Associate into the Investment Management System (IMS)
  • Prepares daily reports needed by the Portfolio Officer such as maturities schedules, investment schedules for the succeeding bank days
  • Analyzes daily transactions, prepares adjustments, and verifies accounting entries posted in the IMS

Financial Statements/Reports

  • Prepares, verifies, consolidates, and analyses financial statements and reports for use by Unit
  • Head and management for decision-making and presentation to the various Committees including the Investment Committee
  • Validates the reports submitted by the external fund managers, including the computation and verification of the Return on Investments (ROI), updates the IMS on the monthly market value of the funds based on the financial statements from the external fund managers
  • Consolidates the external fund managers' reports with internally managed (IMU) investments and submits the consolidated report to the IMU Head for further validation and reporting to the Investments Committee
  • Prepares and analyses various reports for submission to the schools’ controller. These include the Investment schedules, financial statements, and other reports as needed

Database Management

  • Manages the Investment software and backs up the system files

Audit

  • Assists external and internal auditors with required schedules and reports

Reports Generated

  • Daily:
    • Daily Transaction Reports (liquidity, requirements based on maturities
    • Exposure report
    • Investments Schedules for Money Market, Mutual Fund and Equity, etc.
    • Front Office system generated reports which serve as permanent copy and file of daily transactions
  • Monthly:
    • Financial statements and schedules of the fund managed by IMU for the DLS schools
    • Other Reports needed by the different Finance Heads of the DLS schools
    • Reports submitted to IMU Head and management for decision making and reported to the various committees including the Investment Committees
    • Verification of the various financial statements submitted by the external fund managers
    • Verification of the Return on Investment (ROI) as computed by the banks
    • Consolidation of information and figures from external fund managers' reports and IMU-managed investments

Data Encoded

  • Monthly: Investment details based on the Financial Statements and schedules from the eternal fund managers, data from these sources are computed and validated for use in the various reports submitted to IMU Head and the Investment Committee and for updating of records in the investment system

Management Scope

  • No. of Direct Reports: 2 - Investment Operations Associate (KYC) who is responsible for the KYC function for the schools, and an Investment Operations Associate (Accounting) who is responsible for the daily transactions
  • Assist the Investment Operations Manager with all the IMU (Investment Management Unit)-Related clerical tasks which include receiving documents, handling and releasing checks, and updating the DLSP schools on their investments, also in charge and acts as custodian of investment-related documents serving as proof of investment of all schools
  • Prepares the daily accounting entries and the subsidiary ledgers of all investments of schools

  • Internal Clients: Finance & Controllers of the DLSP schools
  • External Clients: External fund managers (banks) & Developers of Infobanker/Trubanker System

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • At least 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in investment operations, investment accounting, or a related field
