Investment Officer - Sustainable Food Debt in Mumbai

• Source high‑quality investment opportunities across Asia agriculture portfolio and other climate‑aligned agriculture adjacent sectors in Asia.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with market participants, investors, advisors, corporates, financial institutions, DFIs, and ecosystem partners.

• Negotiate terms and conditions with clients in line with responsAbility’s managed funds risk/return expectations.
• Lead full due‑diligence processes, including financial, operational, legal, technical, and ESG assessments.
• Build and maintain financial models, perform detailed credit and risk analysis, and prepare investment proposals.
• Present transactions at the Concept and Investment Committee stages.
• Manage the legal closing and disbursement process of transactions.

• Monitor portfolio companies through quarterly reporting, site visits, management meetings, and early warning frameworks.
• Support portfolio companies in resolving operational bottlenecks, enhancing ESG practices, and accelerating impact.

• Support preparation of materials for Valuation Committee, Risk Committee, and auditors as required.

• Work closely with E&S and Climate Advisory teams to ensure that all investments meet high environmental, social, and climate‑impact standards.
• Provide day-to-day operations support to credit risk management and transaction management teams within responsAbility.

• Track market, regulatory, and policy developments across target geographies.
• Analyse trends in emerging business models, and competitive dynamics.
• Representing the company at conferences, seminars and other relevant events in the region as required.

• Post Graduate degree in economics, business administration, finance, or a related field from a top institution.
• More than 7 years of experience in consulting or financial/investment experience preferably in the agriculture or climate sectors.
• Proven deal experience in private or structured credit/ experience in assessment or financing of SME companies, trade finance and/or project finance, demonstrated through deal references, extensive experience in conducting due diligence in emerging markets.
• Strong network of contacts among investors and investee companies, to support origination, mainly in South Asia and South-East Asia; business development and relationship management skills.
• Proficient analytical, writing and presentation skills; Strong financial modelling and accounting skills; proficiency with spreadsheets.
• Excellent oral and written English language skills; any other language is considered an asset.
• Passionate about impact investments; enjoys working with and easily adapts to different cultures.
• Open to travelling often to other Asian countries to originate and execute transactions.
