Do you want to use your investment expertise to drive sustainable growth and support the transition to resilient infrastructure and renewable energy in emerging markets? Swedfund is now seeking an Investment Director to join its Energy & Climate team – a unique opportunity to work with high-impact investments across developing markets, with a particular focus on Ukraine.
Swedfund’s Energy & Climate team invests across a broad range of sectors that contribute to sustainable development and climate resilience, including renewable energy, resilient infrastructure and natural capital. As an Investment Director, you will work across the full investment cycle, from origination and structuring through execution and portfolio management.
The role offers broad exposure to Swedfund’s core geographies, instruments and investment structures. Initially, and likely also beyond, a significant focus for this role will be on investments related to Ukraine given Swedfund’s specific investment mandate in that country. The expectation is also that the role will be tilted relatively more to debt investments.
You will work closely with colleagues across investment, legal, sustainability, risk and impact functions, while also engaging extensively with external stakeholders such as sponsors, developers, co-investors, lenders and portfolio companies. The position is based in Stockholm and involves regular travel abroad.
We are looking for candidates with at least 20 years of relevant investment experience, ideally from a leading development finance institution (DFI) or multilateral finance institution, such as EBRD, EIB or NIB. Candidates with backgrounds in investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, M&A, commercial banking or infrastructure funds are also highly relevant.
You bring a strong track record of transaction execution and investment leadership across the full lifecycle. International transaction experience is highly valued, particularly within renewable energy, infrastructure or emerging markets. Experience with debt investments and structured lending is highly relevant, as is experience with transactions in complex or challenging markets.
You are fluent in English, and Swedish is considered an advantage (as is Ukrainian).
To succeed in this role, you are likely:
You will be offered the opportunity to work with sustainable investments in an international environment. At Swedfund, you will become part of a committed and generous culture. We share experiences, support one another, and work together to make a real difference.
Our offices are located in attractive premises in central Stockholm at Drottninggatan 92.
