Job Description

We are currently seeking an Investment Counselor to join our team in Luxembourg focusing on Central & Northern Europe market. You will closely collaborate with our Private Bankers to provide investment services to Citi’s European ultra-high new worth clients and family offices.

The role will involve advising clients on asset allocation and how to implement it via multiple solutions (capital markets and/or managed solutions) using broad range of traditional (liquid) and alternative (illiquid) asset classes. Citi Private Bank has an extensive, global investment product platform, and the Investment Counselor acts as the primary conduit to it.

This role is one done in very close partnership with the coverage team (banker and associate banker), as well as our investment specialists, risk and compliance partners. The objective is to deliver agreed sales goals within the overall framework of the Citi Private Bank business strategy and operating model.

Key Responsibilities:

• Investment counselors joining Citi Private Bank will be distinguished and highly accomplished at establishing, growing and managing investment relationships with ultra-high net worth clients and single family offices. These are defined as AUM of $25MM or more with Citi Private Bank.
• They should be experienced in the implementation and oversight of investment solutions, and in providing advice and guidance on markets and actionable investment ideas.
• Appropriate candidates will possess the credibility to cultivate trusting relationships with existing ultra-high net worth clients of Citi Private Bank, and should be entrepreneurial and supportive of bringing in new clients/investment relationships.
• Candidates for the position should be collaborative and team oriented, able to leverage a wide array of internal partners.
• Combine in depth knowledge of traditional and alternative investments with wealth planning and private banking services to optimize client service and cross-marketing opportunities.
• Work across multiple investment solutions and asset classes in a multi-jurisdictional environment (MiFID / AIFMD).
• Engage and advise clients on brokerage activity and execute trades seamlessly.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

• High level of competence in Bloomberg, FactSet, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

• Possesses a broad base of execution skills.
• Requires advanced judgment and conducts in-depth analysis to solve problems and develop new, innovative solutions.

Knowledge/Experience:

• Experience in the financial services sector, preferably in a trading, asset management or financial advisory role.
• Excellent relationship building skills, both with clients, and across hierarchical levels and other functions
• Ability to cope with ambiguity and change.
• Ability to challenge status quo and continuously optimize processes and tasks in own area of responsibility.

Qualifications:

• Postgraduate Degree Educated or equivalent preferred, however exceptional candidates with relevant experience will be considered.
• CFA or equivalent registration preferred.
• Will be expected to complete relevant regulatory qualifications.
• Fluent in English
• Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and/or Finnish languages are a plus.

This Role is a “Controlled Function” Role as defined by the Central Bank of Ireland Reform Act 2010 and Principal Regulations 2011, and amending Regulations 2014, 2015.
