Investment Banking Associate | FIG (Banks & Depositories)

Group Overview

The Banks & Depositories team is a sub-vertical within Jefferies’ broader Financial Institutions Group (FIG) coverage team in New York. The team provides strategic and financial advice to banks, thrifts, specialty depository institutions, mortgage and bank fintech companies and other financial services companies across mergers and acquisitions, capital formation, balance sheet strategy, and other complex corporate finance matters.

About the Role

The Investment Banking Associate will play a key role in originating and executing advisory and financing transactions. The Associate will manage analytical and transaction workstreams, coordinate internal and external stakeholders, and oversee the work and development of Analysts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and review of financial models, valuation analyses, and client presentations.
  • Manage transaction workstreams involving M&A, capital raising, and balance sheet advisory assignments.
  • Analyze loan and deposit trends, net interest margin, asset quality, liquidity, capital ratios, and profitability.
  • Coordinate due diligence, data room activity, internal approvals, and communications with external advisers.
  • Serve as a primary point of coordination among senior bankers, clients, Analysts, and product partners.
  • Support client meetings, transaction idea generation, and relationship development.
  • Review Analysts’ work and provide training, mentorship, and feedback.
  • Manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and approximately three to six years of relevant experience.
  • Prior investment banking Associate experience or completion of an Analyst program strongly preferred.
  • Banks, depositories, financial institutions, or broader financial services experience preferred.
  • Advanced financial modeling, valuation, accounting, and transaction-execution skills.
  • Strong understanding of bank financial statements, regulatory capital, deposit economics, liquidity, and credit quality.
  • Demonstrated project-management and team-leadership abilities.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Series 79 and Series 63 licenses preferred or obtained after joining.

Salary Range of $150,000 - $200,000

The salary offered will take into consideration an individual’s experience level and qualifications.
