To support our growth, we are looking for a:
INVESTMENT ASSOCIATE - FINANCIAL ANALYSIS - RENEWABLE ENERGY (W/M)
Permanent contract
Based in MADRID (Spain) or MILAN (Italy)
Your main tasks will be :
COMPLEX FINANCIAL MODELING AND ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF PROJECTS :
Build and maintain complex financial models for renewable energy assets and portfolios, including greenfield, brownfield, and operational projects.
Support live transactions and bring insights to all types of investment decisions through detailed valuation, scenario analysis, and sensitivity modelling.
Analyse and stress-test key assumptions including wholesale power prices, generation volumes, CAPEX/OPEX, and regulatory frameworks.
Develop and manage debt sizing, return analysis, and capital structure modeling..
Review, challenge, and improve third-party models provided by advisers, banks, and partners.
Contribute to the standardisation and continuous improvement of internal modeling frameworks and best-practice templates.
Produce clear, high-quality outputs to support Investment Committee papers and senior decision-making.
Depending on the profile and assignment set-up, mentor junior team members on the different transactions and topics.
PROVIDE CROSS-FUNCTIONAL SUPPORT TO THE OPERATIONAL TEAMS AND GROUP:
Act as a business partner translating technical and financial analysis to business insights and investment recommendations and assisting various teams into negotiations.
Work closely with development, M&A, structured finance, energy management and asset management teams.
Depending on the needs, take part into the group valuation process and corporate capital structure decisions.
Act as a trusted internal investment expert, able to clearly explain complex outputs in a commercial and accessible way.
Expected skills :
You have 4 to 7 years of experience in project finance, infrastructure finance, corporate finance, or transaction modeling.
A background in a top-tier advisory/investment environment (Big 4, investment bank, boutique infrastructure advisory, specialist modeling firm) and ideally within another IPP.
A proven ability to build complex financial models from scratch (not just adapt templates).
A strong experience in renewable energy modeling, ideally including solar PV, battery storage and/or wind projects.
An exposure to battery energy storage systems (BESS) is a strong advantage, including financial modeling of such activities
Strong Excel skills with a focus on best-practice modeling standards (auditability, structure, checks, scenarios, sensitivities).
An ability to review and enhance external models from advisers, lenders, and JV partners.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical modeling outputs into clear commercial insights in an entrepreneurial environment.
A collaborative, low-ego team player comfortable working across multicultural teams in Europe.
A motivated by platform growth and open to evolving into broader investment roles over time.
You need to be both fluent in English and the language of the country you're working in for this role.
