Job Description

Who We Are Looking For

A highly experienced investment analytics and performance measurement professional to serve as a senior consultant and trusted advisor to a leading institutional investor. The role combines technical leadership, strategic advisory, stakeholder management, operating model design, and transformation program delivery across investment performance measurement, risk analytics, investment reporting, data governance, and investment operations. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance to senior management, oversee external service providers, support complex strategic initiatives, and help shape the future development of performance and analytics capabilities across the organisation.

What You Will Be Responsible For

Strategic Advisory

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior management on matters relating to investment performance measurement, risk analytics, reporting, governance, operating models, and industry best practice.
  • Provide independent challenge, recommendations, and subject matter expertise to support strategic decision making.
  • Support the development of future state operating models, analytical capabilities, governance frameworks, and transformation roadmaps.
  • Advise stakeholders on emerging industry trends, methodologies, technologies, and best practices relevant to institutional investors.

Performance Measurement & Investment Analytics

  • Provide technical leadership across performance measurement, attribution, benchmarking, and investment analytics disciplines.
  • Proactively source and deliver the Client data from local stakeholders to Edinburgh team to ensure timely and accurate completion of client reports.
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and relevance of all performance reporting and analytical outputs delivered to stakeholders. Act as the final QC in the report production process.
  • Review and challenge methodologies, assumptions, benchmarks, and analytical frameworks to ensure they remain appropriate and aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Fully support the GS PS and SSGX teams to assist in the successful delivery of the on-going reporting requirements as well as various improvements to the reporting package.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance performance reporting, attribution capabilities, and analytical insight.

Data Governance & Reporting Infrastructure

  • Oversee the governance, quality, and integrity of data supporting investment performance and risk reporting.
  • Lead discussions relating to portfolio structures, benchmark frameworks, security master data, classification hierarchies, and reporting architectures.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen controls, reconciliation processes, automation, and data management practices.
  • Ensure documentation of methodologies, controls, business processes, and reporting frameworks is maintained and regularly reviewed.

Transformation & Operating Model Development

  • Lead and support strategic projects involving investment reporting, analytics platforms, operating models, and data transformation.
  • Translate business requirements into practical solutions across investment, operations, technology, and service provider environments.
  • Support the design and implementation of current state and future state workflows, controls, governance frameworks, and target operating models.
  • Act as a subject matter expert during strategic technology and transformation initiatives.

Service Provider Oversight

  • Oversee the delivery of services provided by custodians, analytics providers, consultants, and technology vendors.
  • Monitor service quality, delivery performance, issue resolution, and contractual obligations.
  • Coordinate stakeholders to ensure projects, reporting requirements, and service enhancements are delivered successfully.
  • Escalate and manage risks, issues, and dependencies to successful resolution.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships across investment, risk, operations, technology, finance, and executive functions.
  • Facilitate collaboration between internal stakeholders and external service providers.
  • Communicate complex technical and analytical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Represent business requirements and stakeholder interests across strategic initiatives and governance forums.

Capability Development

  • Mentor, coach, and develop professionals across performance measurement, risk analytics, benchmarking, attribution, and reporting disciplines.
  • Support the development of policies, procedures, governance standards, and best practice frameworks.
  • Promote a culture of analytical excellence, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.

Additional Skills

  • Deep understanding of institutional investment operating models.
  • Experience supporting enterprise investment platform implementations.
  • Strong knowledge of investment data management and data governance frameworks.
  • Experience working across both public and private market asset classes.
  • Ability to prepare executive level and board level performance reporting and commentary.
  • Experience managing complex stakeholder environments involving investment teams, service providers, consultants, and technology partners.
  • Proven ability to influence strategic direction without direct line management authority.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree qualified, postgraduate qualifications preferred.
