This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.
In Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organisation (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility, and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary, life-changing innovation at speed.
At the intersection of science and innovation, pRED’s Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) organisation enables the discovery and development of safe and effective therapeutics at optimal doses in relevant populations with a vision to power translation, continuously improve the accuracy of our predictions and accelerate the development of tomorrow's medicines. By seamlessly integrating our three core pillars—Translational Safety, Translational Pharmacology, and Biomarkers—we drive end-to-end asset development across the entire value chain, from target assessment to on-market support. Our mission is to continuously improve predictive accuracy, optimise dosing strategies for the right patient populations, and accelerate the development of tomorrow's safe and effective therapeutics.
As an Investigative Toxicology Associate, you play a pivotal role in the development, validation, implementation, and execution of nonclinical in vitro cell culture-based assays for translational safety assessment. In this hands-on laboratory role, you leverage modern scientific tools to maximize insights, drive innovation, and advance our therapeutic pipeline within a highly collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality scientific data for modern regulated and non-regulated toxicology in vitro assays to inform risk assessment across discovery and development projects.
Support the development, implementation, and data analysis of novel predictive in vitro safety models.
Conduct precise data analysis, manage internal reporting within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and present key findings to internal stakeholders.
Optimize laboratory processes continuously to increase quality, efficiency, and safety standards.
Engage proactively with cross-functional matrix teams within Pharmaceutical Sciences to align on project milestones and prioritize laboratory schedules.
Establish and maintain professional relationships with external vendors and technology providers to assess and onboard next-generation laboratory technologies.
You are a curious, collaborative, and detail-oriented laboratory professional passionate about advancing healthcare through cutting-edge science. You bring a strong foundational knowledge of cell biology and thrive in dynamic, matrix-organized environments.
Qualifications & Competencies:
An apprenticeship as a biology laboratory technician, or a B.Sc. / M.Sc. degree in cell biology, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, pharmacology, toxicology, or a related scientific discipline.
A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience operating within a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL2) cell culture laboratory with handling of primary cells and/or iPSCs.
Demonstrated expertise in mammalian cell culture techniques, including experience with complex in vitro models, organoids or organs-on-a-chip systems.
Proficiency with state-of-the-art imaging technologies, such as high-content imaging or confocal imaging, alongside familiarity with imaging analysis tools.
Other technologies of a cell culture / molecular biology lab such as generation and analysis of FACS data, qPCR, ELISA, etc.
Excellent communication and documentation skills in English, with a natural ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
