The Department of Correction (DOC) is seeking a highly skilled intern to join the Investigation Division, which is responsible for overseeing all Use of Force incidents within the agency. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with established Directives and preparing administrative charges when warranted. The internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in law enforcement investigations, allowing the intern to develop essential skills in evidence analysis and administrative procedures.
The Investigation Division conducts thorough and unbiased investigations in a timely manner, adhering to court-imposed mandates. Interns will collaborate with investigative teams on administrative actions related to assigned cases, contributing to reports and supporting the overall mission of the division. This position is ideal for those looking to build expertise in investigative processes and law enforcement protocols within a professional setting.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting the teams with investigative actions, field work and administrative tasks
associated with the investigation
- Shadowing ID Investigators conducting field work in the DOC facilities which includes
interviewing PICS (persons’ in custody), collection of evidence (Reports, logbooks etc.)
- Assist in the review and summarization of evidence (i.e. Genetec surveillance video,
Securus phone calls, reports etc.)
- Review and audit of “Case Management System (CMS),” "Access" and “ITTS” databases
will also be required. This task will require the intern to research incidents, establish and
enter dispositions and assist in creating reports.
- Support administrative tasks related to investigative actions and report creation.
Preferred Skills:
- Undergraduate or graduate student with an interest in criminal justice or law
enforcement.
- Strong analytical and observational skills.
- Detail-oriented and able to handle sensitive information professionally.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
