The Opportunity

If you are passionate about turning incident insights into practical improvements, this is an opportunity to join ElectraNet as our Investigation & Learning Lead and shape how we investigate, learn and reduce risk. You’ll lead significant investigations, assure the quality of investigation methods and help embed lessons across operational teams and leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical execution of significant incident investigations using structured, evidence-based methods including ICAM, root cause analysis and 5 Whys.
  • Facilitate investigations from scoping and evidence preservation through to findings, recommendations and close-out support.
  • Provide specialist advice and quality review across investigation methodology, evidence, causal analysis, documentation and recommendations.
  • Coach investigation owners, deliver capability-building activities and translate investigation themes into practical learning and risk reduction strategies.

About You

You're an experienced investigation professional who brings sound judgement, curiosity and a disciplined, systems-based approach. You can lead complex investigations, build trust across multidisciplinary teams and translate evidence into clear findings and meaningful organisational learning.

What you’ll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in workplace health and safety, engineering or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Deep technical expertise in structured incident investigations using ICAM and root cause analysis frameworks, including leading complex investigations.
  • Demonstrated capability as a specialist adviser and facilitator for multidisciplinary investigation teams.
  • Strong coaching capability across evidence gathering, interviewing, analysis and recommendation development.
  • A rigorous approach to investigation quality, including evidence trails, clear findings, effective recommendations and professional reporting.
  • Data literacy to identify themes, trends and causal patterns and translate them into practical organisational learning and risk reduction.
  • Working knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements for incident notification and investigation.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the confidence to present investigation outcomes and improvement priorities to varied audiences.
  • A nationally recognised ICAM Lead Investigator qualification or related framework is highly regarded, as is experience in electricity, utilities, energy or another high-risk environment.
