Job Description

Job Title: Inventory Specialist – furniture retail


As an Inventory Specialist, you are responsible for coordinating physical inventories at all branch locations. This role involves communicating with market and branch management, reviewing inventory reports, scanning inventory, helping resolve discrepancies and ensuring accurate and efficient inventory processes.

This position is an exciting opportunity for candidates who are analytical and driven to identify solutions to efficiently address business and control needs. Successful candidates demonstrate attention to detail with a proactive work attitude towards solving challenges and/or obstacles.

Compensation: Salary is $70,000

Schedule: Required to work 5 days a week, typically Monday – Friday with Saturday/Sunday travel as needed.

Travel and work location:
Travel for this role is approximately 80–85%. The Inventory Specialist may be based in any city that has a Havertys Furniture store and access to a mid‑ to large‑sized airport. You will frequently travel to and work from various Havertys locations to complete inventory analyses. When not traveling, you may work from a Havertys store or from home.

Job Requirements

As an Inventory Specialist with Havertys Furniture, this is your opportunity to:
• Complete physical inventories to be performed multiple times during the year at each branch location.
• Review inventory reports prior to inventory and follow up with appropriate branch personnel to resolve any issues.
• Coordinate pre-inventory preparation with branch personnel to ensure readiness for physical inventory.
• Execute the manual and automated inventory steps to complete a physical inventory, including coordinating and controlling the scanning of products during inventory, downloading the scanned information into the computer system, and resolving any scanner problems.
• Run adjustment reports after the physical counts and coordinate the research of discrepancies, making necessary corrections and booking the final adjustments through the inventory system.
• Submit summary reports of physical inventory results to the VP, Internal Audit, providing detailed analysis and insights.
• Review inventory reports prior to inventory and follow up with appropriate branch personnel to resolve any issues.
• Submit summary figures of physical inventory results to the VP, Internal Audit, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Key Competencies
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be computer literate, with proficiency in using inventory management software and systems.
• Must be able to travel up to 80% to various branch locations.
• Knowledge of inventory reporting systems and physical inventory processing procedures preferred. Experience with Havertys system is a plus.
