This is a hybrid role reporting into the Support Center at Legacy West in Plano Texas.

Essential Function

The Inventory Ops Allocation Analyst will work cross functionally corporately, as well as directly with store and field management teams to diagnose and resolve inventory related issues. In addition, the individual partners closely with the Planning and Allocation team to identify opportunities and execute against them to improve key inventory performance metrics at stores. The Analyst should have expert knowledge of JDA systems and applications that support store level inventory management.

As Allocation Analyst, responsible for cross divisional allocation “push” strategies and process. Product/seasonal merchandise for “push” includes: promo goods, holiday product, POG changes, New Items, New/remodel stores – as well as reserve management (ecom). Additional responsibilities include Localization: Store clustering, ethnic / demographic allocation distortions. Forecasting at the sku level through PO creation and follow up. The Allocation analyst reviews and adjusts system forecasts based on daily review of product movement including seasonality, industry and market trends, and probability of anticipated sales.

Partner with multiple Buyers to manage category distortions and allocate inventory dollars effectively to drive the business with a promo ST% target of 80%+ during promo period. Drive consistency in sku analysis and allocation function that align with AOR goals. Manage the preplanning process and asset allocation to identify and drive grow / maintain / decline seasonal/push businesses.


Responsibilities

  • Execute day-to-day inventory support activities (including providing second level HELP Desk support for stores/field management).
  • Complete root cause analysis using systems and central databases to identify areas of opportunity.
  • Maintain data sources, and execute daily, weekly, and ad hoc reporting as necessary.
  • Develop and monitor communication tools and materials for store and field inventory management.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures for all responsibilities.
  • Manage projects and programs involving successful coordination of efforts across multiple teams.
  • Responsible for developing and executing push allocation strategies that align sales targets with financial objectives. This includes creating and managing allocation forecasts using JDA tools, tracking performance against forecasts, and ensuring timely PO flow from vendors to stores.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with Buyers, SBUs, suppliers, supply chain, e-commerce, and store teams to align inventory plans with vendor commitments, marketing, and operational capacity.
  • Leverages analytics to optimize allocation effectiveness, identify store clustering opportunities, and adjust forecasts based on key drivers such as seasonality and store footprint changes.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

  • College degree (BA or BS)
  • 1-3 years direct work experience in an Inventory Management/Planning capacity in Retail and exposure to multiple Inventory/ Planning/ Forecasting/ Replenishment systems.
  • Experience with retail buying or logistics preferred
  • Solid understanding of seasonal/fashion inventory management practices and procedures
  • Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge.
  • JDA experience would be a plus.
  • Capability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that helps influence and shape future business decisions.
  • Highly analytical with a sense of business curiosity
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems.
  • Omni-Channel experience preferred.
  • Superior analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are essential.

Working conditions and physical requirements

  • Location: Hybrid | Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday at the Sally Beauty Support Center, Legacy West (Plano, TX); Remote Thursday and Friday

The typical working environment is in the support center office, and the work is sedentary. Typically, the associate may sit comfortably to do the job. However, some tasks and activities may be walking, standing, bending, carrying light items such as papers, files, books, and small parts, driving an automobile to a store location, etc. These activities are not frequent and do not require significant physical demands to perform the work.

While involving everyday risks or discomforts, the work environment is designed with standard safety precautions. These precautions, typical of offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, residences, or commercial vehicles, include using safe work practices with office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, ensuring the safety and comfort of our associates.
