Inventory Controls Specialist

About the Role

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy through cycle counting, inventory auditing, transaction verification, and continuous monitoring of material movement throughout the facility. This role supports Production Control & Logistics by ensuring inventory records remain accurate, identifying discrepancies, participating in corrective action activities, and helping maintain the integrity of inventory management processes.

What You Will Do

• Execute daily cycle count activities to ensure inventory accuracy and compliance with company inventory control procedures.
• Perform cycle counts according to established inventory classifications:
• A Items: Monthly
• B Items: Quarterly
• C Items: Semi-Annually
• Ensure all cycle counts are completed accurately and documented in accordance with company procedures.
• Verify all inventory count documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner.
• Identify, document, and escalate material handling process non-conformances to the Production Control & Logistics Manager.
• Participate in Quick Response Continuous Improvement (QRCI) investigations for inventory variances exceeding established thresholds.
• Assist with tracking and auditing corrective actions related to inventory discrepancies and process improvements.
• Review inventory transaction processes including shipping, receiving, transfers, scrap reporting, and production receipts to ensure timely and accurate system transactions.
• Monitor inventory balances and investigate discrepancies to maintain inventory accuracy.
• Support inventory audits and assist with physical inventory activities as required.
• Collaborate with production, materials, warehousing, and logistics teams to resolve inventory-related issues.
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory control, material handling, and transaction accuracy.

What You Need To Be Successful:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of inventory control principles, materials management, and logistics processes.
• Strong mathematical aptitude and ability to analyze inventory variances.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
• Experience operating in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Commitment to accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Bonus Points If You Have:

• Automotive manufacturing experience.
• Experience with SAP, FCS, or other ERP systems.
• Knowledge of production scheduling, materials planning, and inventory management systems.
• Experience participating in root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
• Prior experience supporting inventory audits or cycle count programs.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.

Education

• Associate's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in production, materials management, inventory control, logistics, or a manufacturing environment.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
